Richmond are more on Hawthorn's level in terms of both supporter base numbers and the bandwagon element.

Whether it's Richmond or Hawthorn who has the biggest bandwagon in the AFL is up for debate, but Essendon might come close to Richmond/Hawthorn levels of bandwagon. It's just been so long since Essendon were relevant that I've forgotten what their levels of bandwagon are like.

Richmond has an enormous bandwagon of support. Three premierships in four years proved that. If Collingwood was to achieve something like that, the membership numbers for the club would go through the roof. As it is however, more people attend Collingwood games than Richmond games, the truest test of a clubs supporter base.

It's really, really important for you to believe that little Collingwood is one of the big clubs like Richmond. Vital to your identity and self esteem.

Apply the same circumstances to Collingwood and they’re getting 100,000 guaranteed.
I was there that day in the MCC members as an impartial onlooker, as were many many others.
