It probably look won’t happen but if Henry wanted to go to Geelong would you do a swap for De Koning rather than a draft pick?
100000%. But no chance, De Koning will be one of the best defenders in the comp for the next 10 years. He's worth a top 3 pick

I hope the club isn't stupid enough to trade gin. He loves Collingwood despite supporting hawks as a kid. Plus didn't he sign an extension earlier in the year?

He wont be going anywhere. Untradable especially anything to do with an almost 30 year old.

All Hypothetical

Can see these guys both having massive futures at Collingwood but if they did leave

Grundy to the Dees for a first which would be Freos pick 14

Henry to Geelong for their first which is pick 18

We would go in to the draft with picks 14, 15, 18

Not saying we use all of these in the draft but definitely interesting having some draft capital to use in potential trades.
Hopefully our pick is 18

Jackson is obviously still young enough to fulfill the promise but right now his performances don't really match the hype or large pay offer coming his way.

Comparison between Grundy in his 3rd season and Jackson this year.

One clearly on his way to becoming our #1 ruck option while Jackson in the company of Gawn hasn't had the same exposure in the ruck or become a large presence when moved forward.

Might well become an AA level player in time but right now he's a bit of a tweener, not yet holding down the #1 ruck position or dominating games as a key forward prospect.

If Grundy officially wants a trade we need at least two clubs to want his services to create a bidding war so we can win. If there is only one it lessens our hand. I am starting to worry we could lose big time if another club doesn’t enter the race for him.

He's an athletic key forward that can't cement a place in the reigning premier who also happens to have the family connection?

At worst he provides key position depth, which we had none of this year with all our talls going down

I want more genuine KPF depth and development in the VFL too.

Taking a look at his stats for Casey this year, he's not exactly knocking the door down, despite Ben Brown being eminently replaceable and McDonald missing several months due to surgery.

Looking at his hitout out numbers, it looks like he even ended up rucking their last two games.

I'd be delighted to bring the great name Weideman back to the club, but I just don't see it with Sam sadly.

lol as if Geelong would let go of De Koning

From the Hawks board:

"Bobby Hill is coming in. That is a done deal already as he has already completed a medical. So with Bobby Hill coming in at Collingwood does that mean they would be slightly easier parting ways with Ginnivan as part of the Tom Mitchell trade. I think it's a big possibility and something that we will be asking for as part of the Mitchell negotiations."

Ignoring the Ginnivan for Mitchell talk the first sentence is interesting.
If Hawthorn offer their first and Mitchell for Ginnivan I’d consider it.

Nope. Ginni is the lifeblood of our team. Like our Bailey Sniff but a better bloke. Would not trade Ginni this early in his career because he's what makes us us.

It's a no on the Weid for me. Mitch Georgiades from Port on the other hand is one I'd like to have a look at. Heard his name mentioned this morning as someone who might be gettable at the right price. If we could turn a Henry pick into Mitch G it would give us some young tallish fwd depth back.
MG is only 192cm AJ is actually taller and Weideman is 197cm.
MG for Ollie’s picks is unlikely.

I don’t see much wrong with Weideman- he’s got all the skills. An attitude adjustment maybe the only thing that’s needed, maybe another Peter Wright situation.

Desperation of a team to keep open its flag window is likely to be more than enough.
We hold the whip hand don’t worry.

I like to think of Ginnivan as our version of Eddie Betts.
Just needs work on his Hulk Hogan can't hear you or throw in the John Cena you can't see me :).

Grundy to Melbourne is done.
Don't expect a good pick in return but I've been told we'll only be paying around 200K of his contract.

Henry isn't worried about his role in our side, just not happy with our offer which is identical to what Finlay accepted.
Kind of understandable as he has shown a lot more to date.
Unfortunately our cap is still fairly tight even with Grundy leaving as the freed up money will go to Jordy, McStay and Hill.
He was still undecided about a fortnight ago but it will be difficult for us to keep him.
