I can’t find anything on Sidebottom’s instagram or any tags. Doesn’t look like his account is heavily active with only the odd post every few months.

If those rumours were true I doubt Sidebottom retires now we will likely be without De Goey. We will need his experience and mature body, even if he is managed and sits on a forward flank when he plays.

Calm down - he's not departing immediately and will be on the books for next year, because aside the relatively minor nature of this incident (from a legal perspective), nothing legal gets sorted out in three weeks.

We wont know anything further until he faces a judge, but you should be mindful that, outside of any (possibly well directed) moral outrage, these are misdemeanours on the lower end of the scale here and having the other charges here dismissed has no impact on legal proceedings there, or any further action the AFL may take in response to this latest incident.

As an aside for all intents and purposes this is his first strike in this particular space from a legal and procedural perspective.

Stop talking sense and facts on this subject… just be morally and emotionally outraged without all the facts like most others

... however if it transpires that De Goey is a goner it will be interesting what opportunities open up and how we go about utilising the salary that frees up.

You'd also hope free agency helps us receive a 1st round compo in return.

Free agency is slim pickings for real quality although two players of big interest would be Macrae and Touk Miller

Yeah maybe but I hope if he leaves we can salvage something. If we retain him on the list we just might. It could still end up being all kinds of scenarios depending on how this plays out.

Few things to note:

• Horrible phrasing. Not authentic to real press releases.
• Steele on the Collingwood FC ... it just doesn't sound right
• You can Google his name and that image comes up.
• No players have posted congratulatory messages on social media.
• No mention of his manager which is normally customary in retirement postings.
• Few AFL players would use the royal 'we'; why not just say 'I'll'?
• Source? - Most true press releases or images such as this would have a source.
• If Collingwood posted it, it's inconsistent with its current imagery.

So we’ll finish bottom 4 getting a good pick and let’s hope we can con a club to give us a first pick for JDG. I’m really hoping we can get something good out of this. Don’t sack him now as we get nothing, a year long suspension is the only way.
