Relevant for players I guess that were told they would be re-drafted by their club unless a player the club rated higher became available with their last pick. Not saying there will be quality available, but the odd player slips thru that one club rates higher than the other.
Why would they be taken in the PSD rather than the end of the ND?

Unsure 36, the brain is not what it used to be and I was thinking more along the lines the of the PSD of yesteryear prior to the current system. Adelaide chose Jackson Hately {GWS} with pick 1 in the PSD last year, the only pick by any club though which says a bit. Also allows a club a little more time to asses a player as the Swans are reported to be doing with McCartin.
Pick 2 under the old PSD system was worth something. Probably time to remove the PSD altogether, seems outdated.

It used to happen a lot later and players had the opportunity to train with you after the national draft and before it.

I think they've kept it solely so more trades go through.

I can see us trading our 2022 first rounder but I can’t see the club doing it for a pick in the teens
Agreed. Two top ten picks this year could be a strong start. Another could come via a trade next year. It depends on how much of a risk Collingwood is willing to take. Who's that top ten player who could elevate your game plan?

Because with our recruitment haul, you'd be hoping we come 11th as a bare minimum.

I would not. We desperately need more young talent. We have a lot of young players but not many of them are locks yet for long term best 22 players

I'm saying if that's our worst case scenario.

Yeah, ideally would be nice to get more, but within the context of last off-season, IF Daicos alone was our worst case scenario, I'm saying I'm ok with that.

Can someone advise please if all Cat A and B positions are full when Chugg is redrafted as a rookie or how many positions remain?
Also list of DFA's tipped to be training with us?

I think our rookie lists will be full with the addition of CHugg, but we might promote someone after the national draft and before the rookie draft - enabling us to rookie someone.

It'll be post-draft that any players who might train with us are considered - as it will be blokes who missed out on the draft.

Pendant on whether we take 3 or 4 players in the ND?

Yeah currently got 32 seniors, 4 Cat A and 2 Cat B. You can have max 36/6/2 or 37/5/2 or 38/4/2.

So if we take 3 in the ND, someone will get an upgrade to make it 36 seniors, and we'll have room for Chugg + 2 other rookies (will potentially leave one or both of these spots open for the mid season draft).

If we take 4 in the ND, that will take us to 36 seniors, so there will be room for Chugg + 1 other rookie (which we may leave for the mid season draft)

But Keane was transferred from Cat to Cat A after Tohil retired, so does that mean we have 1 spot? Suppose depends on the senior list how many players we have on there.

Yep. Forgot about Keane, so we should have Chugg plus one spot. My money is on a mature age rookie.

Jeez. I really thought Sier would have been someone who trained with someone. Can you be a SSP without entering the draft?
Just read that Mummy has nominated for the ND draft so that he qualifies for the MSD - seems like the Giants are looking for some contingency in the event that they lose one or more of their rucks. I don't believe that you need to nominate for the ND to qualify for the SSP

Yeah, I think so. I just read this..

" If you've played for an AFL club in the past, or nominated for the draft in the past and went unselected, you can now choose the club you want to play for (assuming they want you) rather than entering the draft lottery. "

I thought anyone who was delisted from the AFL was automatically added to the draft for the next 2/3 years? Maybe this was an old rule or just my misunderstanding?

That might be old, you still have to nominate. Which is why the likes of Rantall, Naish, Casboult have nominated
