Grundy won’t be at the pies according to Rockliff.

I don't believe this for a second...

... but hypothetically if it had legs...

The article says he wants to stay in Melbourne.

In that scenario the best bet to get something back would be North imo.

They'll lose Goldstein and have a need + cap space.

I'd bet we could get decent players and/or picks back our way from them.

Sometimes you need to make the tough decisions to develop the future, now is the perfect time

Grundy & JDG gives us Rd 1 picks to use or trade, we get this right it gives us 3-4 recruits the other way

We haven’t really missed them this year anyway.

Henry is another - rather keep him but hearing it’s on the fence. Cats will have cough up a first rounder for him so potentially that’s 4 1st rounders

Yeah some of the conservative supporters won’t like hearing it but that’s footy and trust Wright to get it right

Highmore is a no from me, reminds me of Kelly with brain farts but worse disposal

I haven't been watching the game but it's in the 3rd quarter and Highmore has 13 disposals, 6 intercept possessions at 77% disposal efficiency. To be fair 3 turnovers. That's not a bad game. Those intercept numbers are big for this stage of the game.

Cox is 31 so potentially one big injury from being done. DC has been great, but is a different ruckman compared to Grundy. People are quick to forget how influential Grundy is, even when he is not at full flight.

If we're 'losing' him (we're not), it's a gun player and a top 5 pick. Who will pay that and his salary?

I'll back Brodie in to get back to his best.

I’ve never really paid attention to him but tonight he’s been very very poor by foot/ decision making. 77% doesn’t seem right to me he’s made some howlers. Granted only one game I’ve really paid attention to him. He’s decent in air.

North maybe.

I agree though, I'd prefer we kept Grundy.

The possible scenarios if he were to leave are fun to discuss though.

It could open up interesting opportunities

We got completely wrecked in the middle today. I like what Cameron and Cox are doing but they have weaknesses that Grundy doesn't have. Also see how light we are with keys. Mihocek down and no Moore and we had very little answer to their talls.

We def short on KPP, but nobody could have predicted roughy being forced into retirement, and then losing two KPP we bought in in kreuger and dean. Just a perfect storm. Hell even Johnson was seriously pressing for selection before his bloody half a season hammy

Davies-Uniake is out-of-contract.
I think we need to be looking at clubs where a squeeze is on (both in terms of cap and competition for spots) - like GWS

Players won’t leave Nth
They’ll have the money for those that are a bit reluctant - the others will want to see it through
Maybe there’ll be a case where a player becomes disheartened and goes home interstate - but I doubt if their players would leave to a cross-town rival

I see it a bit different in that I think a few may decide to move for a better chance of success. It can't be easy being in a team getting flogged like they do each week.

Mate I have the utmost respect for Graeme Wright and I understand he knows more…..But this McStay thing is doing my head in. His numbers do not warrant 5 years at 600. I really hope he stays in Brisbane.
I think today underlined why we are after McStay. As I said earlier, one reason is he is gettable. Don't waste time on pipe dreams. If Mihocek has a shocker we look light on for a contested mark.

He also offers versatility. Today he could have gone back or even pinch hit in the ruck. With a fit Krueger we have 3 very mobile, marking targets inside 50.

Totally agree, we are so thin for key talls obviously. A fit Kreuger (and hopefully has better luck in 2023) add McStay if he comes to us.
I think we need to go hard for Taranto.
Need another elite mid if we are to challenge next year.

Literally every stat huh?

If you think any other club would choose Taranto over De Goey as a pure footballer I'd suggest it's time to get off the pot.

Lol every stat except goals.

I actually didn't think it was that close thought Degoey was the better of the 2, but there you have it Tarranto in nearly all categories is statistically the superior player and 2 years younger.

Quite baffling to me how people can watch opposition mids waltz out of the middle to get a clearance without getting tackled, and then turn around and ramble about how we’re better off without Grundy.
Quite baffling people think Grundy is the solution to this problem when we should be investing in better midfielders.
