1 year of Buddy at 36 on $800k is better than 5 years of McStay on $600k.
Buddy would probably kick more goals in that one year than McStay in five too.
He’s just as likely to ping a hammy or calf and miss 12 weeks.

And still be a better investment. He’s just as likely to ping a hammy or calf and miss 12 weeks.
Not a fan of McStay im guessing? And still be a better investment.
I don't have much of issue with McStay but like others, the deal that's been speculated on is woeful and he's never demonstrated that he's worth that. I also don't think the line of "well that's just what you have to pay to get a free agent" makes the deal any more palatable. Not a fan of McStay im guessing?
I agree the 5 x 600 doesn't thrill me but he fills a desperate need and he's shown patches of form that well and truly warrant that deal. His form late last year was pretty bloody good. Games with 6 contested marks and 4 goals and a few bags of 3. Maybe he's mentally checked out of Brisbane and that's why his forms average this year. Who knows. But this time last year everyone was saying they'd be pissed off if we targeted Peter Wright and look how that's turned out..I don't have much of issue with McStay but like others, the deal that's been speculated on is woeful and he's never demonstrated that he's worth that. I think there's a level of quasi-gaslighting going on by being told to "just trust Fly and Wrighty, they know best." Maybe they do have some master plan but just accepting in blind faith is a recipe for disaster.
I feel that with some people here that are fans of the McStay deal, they've fallen in love with the idea of getting him and aren't looking at it critically at all because to be critical of it means not being a true supporter, or they have to be really positive towards someone who's going to be one of our own.
If the media came out with an article that said we've gone cold on him, those same people would drop him like a rock. They just go with the flow of the club.

Hey i was fully on board with it. Even Casboult. Instead we've got poor Checkers getting smashed by himself every week stillSome of us actually fully supported the Peter Wright decision, the same with Will Brodie, and got shut down in flames. Funny that.
They've been playing McStay as a decoy basicly, no wonder the guy can't get a look inI agree the 5 x 600 doesn't thrill me but he fills a desperate need and he's shown patches of form that well and truly warrant that deal. I was in on it, as well as B.Brown, McDonald and hogan. Some of us actually fully supported the Peter Wright decision, the same with Will Brodie, and got shut down in flames. Funny that.
Yeah with Daniher there he's well and truly getting ignored more than he was. Everyones just looking at his last month or so and deciding he's shit. I reckon hes got something to work with for sure. They've been playing McStay as a decoy basicly, no wonder the guy can't get a look in
There is no situation where I am even close to being a supporter of Buddy being with us. Goes against everything we are trying to do, oh and we aren’t winning a flag in the next two years, news flash.
This is 2018 and beams all over again. Do it right. If we have the cap space, what's the downside of throwing Buddy 800k for one year? Could just win us a flag...
What if he accepts minimum salary with a future assistant coaching role? There is no situation where I am even close to being a supporter of Buddy being with us. Goes against everything we are trying to do, oh and we aren’t winning a flag in the next two years, news flash.
That's beautiful manPretty sure the people trying to send Grundy off would be the same people sooking about loyalty in football. Across his career he's probably the best performing pie apart from Pendles.
Loyalty , spare me , be it individual player or clubs , loyalty is conditional upon performance or non performance, monetary invested for below expected performance return both ways . I don’t support individuals. I support the Club , most players don’t give a shit when they lose , it’s the supporters who feel it , take a look after the final siren, losing players are smiling , giving their opponents nice teddy cuddles , whisper sweet nothings into each other’s ears . It’s a business to them . nothing more , nothing less .Pretty sure the people trying to send Grundy off would be the same people sooking about loyalty in football. Across his career he's probably the best performing pie apart from Pendles.
You want a piece of Buddy at 1.5 for 2 years, sucked in! Might as well flush $$$ down the toilet, diabolic fit for Collingwood. Anyway we don't have to worry about it because it's a stupid idea.Buddy at 2/750 or McStay at 5/600? I definitely lean toward the former
