people said the same thing about Poida Wright re not getting a game in a crap side.

Just sayin
Noted. Peter Wright was a 23 year old key forward playing in a dysfunctional club behind Ben King. He was still a relatively unknown product and played a position which takes longer to produce, granted most people said no and history says they’re wrong (myself included)

Matt Crouch is 28 next year, we know what he is, a possession merchant who slows down play and looks sideways and back not forward

Craig McRae has said too many times that even I like to remember that we look to push forward, play an attacker brand, high defensive pressure without the ball and have fun at all times. It is the complete opposite of how Matt Crouch plays his football, unless he has a dramatic transformation I can’t see him getting close to a game in our side, let alone being mentioned in a list management discussion at the club

Scully is at 17 not 4. Even that is too high for Scully. I can understand why Phillipou is rated so highly, he can do it all, pendles like in his movement and has very strong hands as well as plenty of pace. I can see Phillipou going top 3
Check again, he's at 4 which is ludicrous and like I said he'll change it.

Crouch is a confusing one for me.

Was a gun player in a gf year.

Clearly has been hampered by groin injuries of late.

Gets sacked by a coach in July who has won 15 games in 3 years... That are half kinda committed to a rebuild?

Would not like to be an Adelaide supporter.

And not in the top 25 for Cal's rankings that came out today
Neither are Lemmey or Keeler by the looks of it.

Alwyn Davey is though, just to make Bombers fans nervous.

You are correct, just had a look a the July rankings and Scully has dropped, a lot! But Casey Voss has risen, he's the 2022 Bailey Rogers and Phillipou ain't going at 1, that is ridiculous.
Phillipou will go at 4 to Adelaide. My personal opinion on Scully is that he will go 3rd round

We need a quick inside mid, our midfield is very one paced

Yes please. We rarely burst from the centre.

We have some quick players and great runners but not many who have that combo of speed and explosive pace out of the middle (yet).

I covered off the drop in clearance differential as well. Grundy rucked for 84% of the first 6 rounds meaning he often came up against the 2nd ruck which was Hayes, Himmleberg, Dixon, Ratugolea and Baldwin whereas Cox/ Cameron haven’t had that luxury with their stretch of matches coinciding with matchups against Gawn/ Jackson, Witts x 2, Darcy and Goldstein.

On Sunday it was a perfect storm of Cameron having a mare and Essendon’s fleet of smalls being on. Grundy may have impacted this one, but the stats don’t support him being a better centre clearance ruckman for the team other than his ability to win his own which can often be a detriment to the team when he hacks it forward blindly…
To be fair Cameron/Cox did come up against DeKoning/Silvani/Cripps Reeves/Koschitzke a clearly injured for 75% of the match Gawn and Keeffe/Green/Himmelberg.

That is good news about Keeler I would be very happy if he drops to where we will be on draft night I would prefer Keeler before Mcstay myself.

Maybe both?
Trade some later picks to the bummers for their 1st, so they have enough points for Alwyn Davey Jnr.
Then bid on him...

I’m convinced the club clearly want to open up cap space and my gut feel is Wright is prepared to lose Grundy.
Same feelings here. Grundy may be the more ‘important’ player, but more dispensable player purely on the size of his contract (dollar & years) v JDG.

Factoring in Cox/Cameron’s form, and the return of Kruger next season with the continued development of Begg, I can understand that. I reckon the current style of AFL game allows for 1 pure ruckman and a tall to pinch hit too so it’s not the end of the world if we trade Grundy and cop an injury to Cox or Cameron next season.
