Does that solve the senior team balance issue? Grundy’s contract is an obvious element to the discussion, but I think the more glaring concern is his lack of aerial ability and his ball use as a ground level player.Could contract be extended 2 years and the money spread out over those 2 extra years?
IMO, signing him on until he’s 35 opens up another can of worms. Let’s say it’s 2 x $200k does he still want to be playing at that age? Also do we want to be paying him $700-750k at that age?.. That’s the $ figure we’re talking if we smooth the contract and it’s currently in the $800-900k range. If Collingwood want a solution to the contract dilemma I think they need to sell to Grundy that his future lies elsewhere without selling to him that his future lies elsewhere. It’s a bloody tough one because as Sr pointed out it won’t take much to create Treloar 2.0.
