Could contract be extended 2 years and the money spread out over those 2 extra years?
Does that solve the senior team balance issue? Grundy’s contract is an obvious element to the discussion, but I think the more glaring concern is his lack of aerial ability and his ball use as a ground level player.

IMO, signing him on until he’s 35 opens up another can of worms. Let’s say it’s 2 x $200k does he still want to be playing at that age? Also do we want to be paying him $700-750k at that age?.. That’s the $ figure we’re talking if we smooth the contract and it’s currently in the $800-900k range. If Collingwood want a solution to the contract dilemma I think they need to sell to Grundy that his future lies elsewhere without selling to him that his future lies elsewhere. It’s a bloody tough one because as Sr pointed out it won’t take much to create Treloar 2.0.

This is lunacy. We aren’t extending him. And if we were it would need to be a lot more than $200kpa - which will be well below minimum wage by then.

That was kind of my point with shall I say more nuanced language?..

If your suggested 2 year extension was intended to be a joke, you might have to be clearer for the less subtle amongst us.

Not a joke hence why I posted “that was my point”. To reiterate it was me saying it was lunacy, but with more nuance than yourself… Basically we’re in furious agreement here that Grundy won’t extend his contract to help us smooth out the $ impact.

If the club choose to act GW deserves a statue if it doesn’t go the way of the Treloar move. The only reason I’m encouraging them to act is because I realise McStay is coming in. Otherwise I would suggest we hold both Grundy and JDG, but move other salaries to find room for Taranto. Considering you seem to have missed a couple of my points I’m big on Taranto for us and I do appreciate your sledgehammer approach, sometimes 👍

Need to find some sponsorship deals for our players like Melbourne have managed. Gawn with Lulelemon, Petracca with Kenedy Watches and surely they'll be working on one for Oliver and Brayshaw with their long term deals.

Would love to see Ginnivan promoting a pool company for the ultimate piss-take.

Buckley also told Treloar the playing group wanted him out which wasn't true. In the end he was revealed as a company man and not a players coach, the beauty of 2022 is you can see the difference.

Yes… it wasn’t true. Buckley didn’t say that.

It wasn’t Bucks fault that we were forced into a fire sale and it wasn’t entirely his fault that Treloar took it so personally. History has shown that the players we were forced to move on were the right ones. The only arguable mistake was Aish, the year before.

Sorry to jolt your selective memory but Buckley told a web of lies to Treloar, that is why they're estranged. All he had to say was sorry Adam we can't afford you, chose not to do that, went the company line.

He was a solid contributor but still wasn’t worth the money and one of the big reasons our ball movement was so stagnant under Bucks.

Yep but I think Mcstay is probably a 450 to 500k player. But if you want to poach a KPP out of another club an extra 100k is probably minimum to get it done. So really 600k isn't totally unreasonable.

I think Treloar was a mistake also. Hard to replace his output and imo we haven't.
