Tom Mitchell for cheap is a no brainer, better than any other inside mids we've got.

Grundy to us is a no brainer too.
Wonder if this forms the base of the deal.

Once again you’re working on the assumption that Cox will be more than depth next year. It’s unlikely that we play him, Cameron, McStay, Checkers and AJ in the same team. From those players Cox is the likely out, so you’d be basing it solely on replacing Cameron down the road, and it’s unlikely that a player in the cusp moving for more opportunity will want to wait that long to replace the incumbent ruck.

As fwd come 2nd ruck then it's Cameron.

In terms of needs, do we need another young kpd if we recruit Frampton. Frampton, Dean, MacMahon and maybe Kelly is a fair few developing ones. You'd take a best available one, but not another speculative one.

Frampton, Dean, McMahon are speculative although I hope are all pushing hard for best 22 that is the best possible outcome. If we do trade Grundy and have pick 13 and 14 you would think a developing key forward would be good especially with the hesitation we all share about McStay and Kreuger kicking more that 30 goals in a season. And yes McStay might help everyone around him kick more but you would hope he can beat his best of 29 goals in a season.

Also every time I hear or read about the McStay deal it is 650 not 600...

No rage, just unconvincing that your master plan hinges on acquiring Taranto (a 50/50 at best), McStay, and 3 (more like 2) fringe players.

Agree My learnings from not having Grundy in the side is that Cox is better than Cameron at the ruck contests. Cameron and say McStay would not be a viable option imo. Unless we had the mids to shark the opposition's taps... Which we don't.

Mitchell would come in and immediately become a top clearance player (only behind Adams and Grundy this season) and is 8th in the comp in contested possessions. He's also a solid enough tackler.

I wouldn't want him on big coin, but as a back-up to making a play for Taranto/Hopper/Dunkley it makes sense. Much better fit than Crouch

Those are the players linked to us and all I said was that if getting all them (as well as re-signing De Geoy) is the result of/possible because of letting go of Grundy, then I’m ok with it

It's a fairly big if, and is entirely dependent on Brodie giving the ok to any move.
