Well we differently need one inside mid and another key back with good kicking skills
Plus a developing key forward, hopefully through the draft
Unless we get good value for Grundy rather keep him

Grundy won't get a first. Problem with Hopper/Tarranto is that they would require us becoming worse in 1 way to get them. Wed lose draft picks and or good players. If we can get Hill, McStay, Fiorini and (maybe) Mitchell without costing anything close to a first rounder, our stocks would be looking better.

He played Geelong in the finals last season and was near-invisible. The physical pressure of finals makes him even smaller than his 73kg frame.

So what? One game does not define a player.

No, but in both finals games he has played he has been significantly below his average (which is a poor standard in the first place). That is why, of those who are linked to us, he is the last one I would have taken for the Cats game.

The Hill recruitment will require some projection because he's young, developing and has had health issues. I'm not too fussed about past output partly because the role he plays is often by it's nature low possession and hot and cold, and also he's young and developing. It's also why a couple of quiet finals games shouldn't be weighted too heavily.

It's more about what a small player does with their few opportunities and then defensively. Hill has the skillset to make something out of little because he is so highly skilled and compliments our existing forwards in terms of balance. We would anticipate he will develop in our system. I think a few highly skilled clean moments are made for finals so I reckon he'd have been a good player to have.

So what you're saying is you want to piss off Ginnivan if we're not doing much against Geelong in our first final. And reading that back I hope you can see how asinine that comment is.

Mother of all strawmen! Ginnivan played alright given how invisible Mihocek was, but, more importantly, Hill is nearly 3 years older than Ginnivan yet is significantly less physically developed and said physical underdevelopment has held him back majorly in his 2 finals thus far.

Pickett had four touches on Friday night. It can happen to small forwards. Leon Davis didn't get a possession in a grand final. Both of these players are top drawer.

Ginnivan 184 78kg, Hill 175 73kg, I'd say that's bang on where they should be so I don't know where you come up with your physical underdevelopment equals lack of performance tripe. Shai Bolton would want to stack on some weight then! You keep loading up the ball machine and I'll keep whacking them over your head for six.

78kg at 184 is light you only need to see ginni to know he has more body development to come.

Shae Bolton uses his athletic traits ie elite pace and leap to get around being lightly built also teams as yet haven't physically come after him like they do Ginnivan.

Regardless he was OK had some smart pieces of play and we moved the ball in a way that doesn't favour small fwds. Missing that shot was not great but that unlike him.

So Bobby Hill lost some kg's beating cancer, it's not a big deal, beating cancer is.

Clubs keep repeating the same mistakes. Richmond are chasing a gun midfielder and throwing more money than sanity at him and somehow expect his body to be still ripe at 32? I know there are stars over 30 but it's a big investment and huge risk. He could be done by 28.

Essendon has launched its bid to get De Goey. Interesting to see how they go about luring him but if he does leave, then we're really going to need Tom Mitchell and another star like Firoini. A third for Mitchell (yep, you read that correctly, a third - it was on Fox Sports this morning), is a bargain investment for a player of his calibre.

I have no clue why we're not targeting Fiorini if the VFL has been used to make selection calls all throughout the season. Fiornini is a player I rate well ahead of Bobby Hill.

If the price is 7 years @ $750k per season I’m sure Wrighty has ruled us out.
Just not worth that sort of deal.

I wouldn't be paying Taranto $750k a year. Keep DeGoey, get a Mitchell in to help him in the midfield, who will come for around $400-$450k a year, considering the Hawks are willing to pay part of his $700k contract for the next 2 years. Mitchell will also protect the likes of Macrae and McInnes in the midfield, until their bodies develop to take the punishment of a full-time midfielder.

You have to factor in the premium we put on pressure, outside of the phone booth work Mictchell does is the damage his opponent does on the spread. Our gameplan just won't work with a mid running around by himself with Tom nowhere in sight.

True, but we need improvement in our centre clearance and clearance from stoppage. Fly has said us getting smashed in these and other areas aren't sustainable. We have defied the odds at this stage, but will we get away with it next year?

I’m a bit torn on this given Rich have been poor on these stats, while wining 3 flags.
That said, McCrae according to his comments, is not wedded to their gameplan, despite his background and comparisons to our style.
Clearly he has an improved approach in mind.
