Ginni is deceptively tall and as such lacks a yard or 2 of pace.

Hill is quick/agile and extremely clean below the knees.

GWS wanted an early second rounder last time from Essendon. But given GWS cap issues, the fact he is out of contract and his unfortunate health issues, he should cost bugger all now. Probably just one of our thirds.

IMO it’s still blatantly obvious we still lack a speedy crumber in our forward line. There are very few in the draft and most would still be much more speculative than Bobby.

The funny part about this post, despite your tone, the suggestion that Grundy will get us the pick that Jackson will.

Freo will have to cough up significantly more then their first for Jackson. Pick 14 will only for a part of that trade, so no, you’re wrong on that.

Jackson is a pick 3 (from memory) premiership player and young.

Being a premiership player doesn’t automatically make you better. Take that out of consideration for his value.

Grundy is a former AA coming off a knee reco and hasn't seen his best in 3 years.

Free will need to get a top 10 if not 5 pick to get Jackson. They will be trying to use their first round pick to get higher.

They’ll use pick 14 and probably their future first and have something coming back their way. It’s not as simple as “they need a top 10 pick” because that’s not always feasible.

I’m not sold on Hill as a player in general yet, because he just doesn’t have the runs on the board, but it’s hard to argue that recruiting him is a bad idea. He has all the traits, and will be a low cost trade. Low risk, high reward seems a no brainer to me that we should be grabbing him.

To me, he's been played out of position. Fast skillful indigenous kids can be pigeon holed as deep forwards, but he needs to play higher up the ground to utilise his ability to run with and use the footy

He will be great. Often Jamie Elliott is the only one in our forward line with speed and he looks dangerous. Having Hill will be like having peak Stephenson.

And yes, peak Stephenson was his first year in the system

I'd always go best available through the draft and recruit for needs, which is how I think we'll go. Even though it means overpaying for someone like McStay - that's better than overpaying and thus burning draft picks by only aiming for a particular type at the draft.

I'm pretty bullish about a tall combo involving 3 of McStay, Kreuger, Johnson, Mihocek and Henry. I think we need Ginni and McCreery to take the next step and get front and centre more, but am happy with the way the forward line is likely to shape up next year.

Elliott is a great forward. Except he lacks about 20cm required to play the role he does. He plays well but he and we'd be better if we had a marking forward who was taller.

Frampton had 21 disposals and 10 marks today.

So why are we wondering whether to sign him? Just sign him up. He'll cost us a ... third? El cheapo for that production rate. Kelly averages about half that in the VFL so I'd take Billy any day of the week. If we have a better defender in the AFL, imagine what that unlocks for Moore. Still got Dean coming through as well with McMahon developing nicely.

Correction. Peak Stephenson was in his second year before being busted for gambling. He was on target for a 40-50 goal season (including finals) at that point.

More than agree with that. Premiership player looks good on the Wikipedia page but says nothing about ability. Look at some of the past premiership players from 2012-2018. There are some ordinary names in those lineups that played well on one day in September or October and won a medal. The Bulldogs list of 2016 was the weakest out of the lot. I often think we validate players too easily for winning a flag when only one team can do that in the year and good players are frequently drafted to ordinary teams. Or injury strikes. Or they lose a grand final. In America, championships help define legacies but they aren't the sole determinant of success. Same in European football.

Unfortunately Adams has battled groin injuries since his junior days and I think it's at a stage now where we have to plan around him not being available and treat it is as a bonus if he is.

"Fiorini's people have had talks with Collingwood - he's 2nd choice if they don't get Tom Mitchell from Hawks.

Hawks have talked to Sam Flanders people.
Hawks also talking to other young players from other clubs (Bergman, Bruhn, Duursma) so lots of competition.

Both their people are Hemisphere Management.

If they have been tasked with moving them on - good call, as they have strong ties with Collingwood and Hawthorn (and manage a couple of fringe Hawks)
