There's some sweet irony in the Bulldogs being priced out of Josh Dunkley after robbing us for Treloar - Dunkley the far more important player. He's not gone yet, but it's looking likely

I’m not against us getting Mitchell at all,I think he definitely fills a need for us,short term at least. But I just wonder why Hawthorn are so keen to get rid of him?His form hasn’t dropped off that much, has it?

Think its more that they want to keep playing the youth more than anything.

Yeah as Jen said, he doesn't fit there anymore. He is a quality older player and they want to get younger. He demands large midfield minutes.

I actually think if he remains sound he could be one of the best gets ever for us. He is just a ball magnet, great in close and releasing players on the outside. He will work really well with Daicos, Daicos, Sidebottom and pendlebury. One of the things I'm struggling with is recognising we are actually a great ball using team. We need more grunt and ball winners. This hasn't been the case in the past for Pies teams.

Imo he is a much better player than Adams. Not as quick, but knows his limitations and doesn't try to hit the impossible pass.

As others have said, just wish we could put him in on Saturday night!

They are Re-Building and we Finshed 4th on the Ladder

From the Gold Coast Board:
"Fiorini's people have had talks with Collingwood - he's 2nd choice if they don't get Tom Mitchell from Hawks.

Hawks have talked to Sam Flanders people.
Hawks also talking to other young players from other clubs (Bergman, Bruhn, Duursma) so lots of competition.

Both their people are Hemisphere Management.

If they have been tasked with moving them on - good call, as they have strong ties with Collingwood and Hawthorn (and manage a couple of fringe Hawks)

Just chatting atm - SO I'M TOLD"

FYI
I wouldn't mind both. Fiorini is the Lipinski of this year's trade period. Free to a good home. Another one is Paddy Dow. He's free talent.

There is so much cheap, free or good talent that is screaming for a home. Why we don't target this and get rid of the list clog that exists is completely bewildering.

This...and that they don't want to play the backwards / sidewards chip game that Mitchell finds the easiest. Bucks would have condoned it, I'm not sure Fly is gonna let him take the easy option all the time. And Sam Mitchell didn't either.

Fiorini and Dow both run hard, but both butcher the ball when you least want them to....bit like Adams.

Mitchell is trying to emulate what Clarko did when he first arrived at Hawthorn. Clean out any senior players over a certain age and try to fast track the kids. Not sure it’s the right call, as the core of young players Clarko had to work with back then were far more talented than the youngsters on the Hawks list currently.

Plus, back then they were selling their talented talls who were struggling, for a variety of reasons, for a big price.

Would T.Mitchell be like a Brad Sewell type player in the now? Or worse, better, break even.

Watching Dow he just looks to have no outstanding features to his game just accumulates possession in general play.
Maybe he is shot mentally after going in a draft then rotting in vfl and going though the motions.

Will Setterfield looks to me a much better player of the 2.
