Stocker sounds like a good depth Moneyball type of pick, worth punting on.

Every successful team has a few value journeyman types, who have often failed somewhere previously before turning it around at a new club.

Stocker must have had plenty of talent to get picked in first round of the draft, seems a good kick and isn’t a small light-framed player easily pushed around. Sounds like a great project player for McRae, Leppeitch and Bolton.

The Brown brothers need to change clubs if they’re gonna ever make it. Replace one of them with Stocker.

Ralph reporting JDG has had the old contract offer reinstated - 2 years guaranteed with automatic 2 year extension if behavioral clauses are met. $800k per year. JDG will stay.
Grundy - friends saying he is so motivated that he’s telling them he’ll win the Brownlow next year.
If he’s that motivated I would not trade him.

Excellent. Let Grundy prove it by taking a pay cut to stay but with performance clauses added so that he can qualify for some bonuses paid in subsequent seasons.

Fantastic news about DeGoey if true. I hope so!

Stocker certainly not A grade or certainly not yet. But we can get him for nothing and would be ahead of alot of others on the list. I'd back Fly to get his attitude right. Yes we need Quality but we also need depth. You need a premiership list to win a flag not a premiership 22 and guys like Frampton, Hill, McStay, Stocker will strengthen our bottom rung of players in the 22 on a weekly basis immensely

Peter Moore left Cwood and won a Brownlow at Melbourne

If Richmond recruit both Hopper and Taranto then they are top 4 next season. That addresses the reliance on Prestia.

In some ways I am happy as it means Geelong miss out.

Surely Dusty would have to be leaving though?

Ahh well, at least Liam Stocker will have a family tree to wrap around him. I think he'll get picked up but we don't need him when Fiorini is better.

I'm not trying to be ridiculous about it but Titch is a lot slower than Sewell ever was and doesn't have the same sideways movement as he once did (following his leg fracture). His (Titch's) kicking is restricted (slow up and unders) and its one of the main reasons he kicks sideways and backwards so much, he HAS to safe kick. He's always had a quicker brain than Sewell and he will attract plenty of ball and use his great hands....but he's not going to get a team moving forward from stoppage quickly anymore (which is the way Sam Mitchell wants his team to play).
He is also limited position wise, he can only be of any benefit as an inside mid (admittedly something we lack) but he'll slow our transition every time he's involved in a chain.
If he was still a "valuable" inside mid...you don't think someone as astute about midfield play as Sam Mitchell would have kept him?

I think you've got this one wrong. He'll speed up our ball movement because his hands are so clean. The biggest issue we have is that our inside mids, other than Pendles, two grab it too often.

Edwards retirement and their low balling Cotchin and Riewoldt into one year deals saving them $1.5M apparently..

I ask myself, if you pay $300k for Grundy not to play at collingwood, is there a better player you can get for $700k (the savings). I think the answer is no, butttt we can find a better fit.

With that said I want him to stay, ideally on taking a pay cut or even adding an extra year to smooth it out but not likely

Clearly. I've no doubt he has felt on the outside all year as we have gone on our magical run and it must hurt to hear the club is willing to trade you on top of the injury. When you are injured, you basically don't exist in the eyes of the coach and team. It's ruthless but true. They say Leigh Matthews completely ignored players who had long term injuries as he saw no point in wasting time speaking with them when they could no longer contribute to the team. Brutal. But if it's true he is all fired up to prove us wrong perhaps saying he will help Melbourne to win another flag would be a better way to express it.

I've always questioned Grundy's hippy "footy isn't everything" persona from the moment he held us over a barrel with that contract.
I worried about him after he suggested/threatened going back to Adelaide, then when asked about it, feigned ignorance.

He clearly squeezed the club for that level of money, and yes, the club could've/should've called his bluff, but his steady drop off in ferociousness after signing has really not sat well with some.
