Ruckmen are crash-and-bash work horses. They should NEVER be the highest paid players. It ought to be a Golden Rule of list management.

The elite money should be reserved only for match-winning key forwards and Brownlow-worthy midfielders. No exceptions.

Grundy was the in 2018/19 and has played games to that level on 2020/21 and for the first few games of 2022.
He will be fresh in 2023 and primed for another great year. Hopefully that is with the Pies at around $800k - would be a good result for us.

I'm getting mixed messages regarding the Pies cap space from the media, its like they are running the list management for us now? Seriously as someone mentioned, if we weren't into all these plays how do we have a problem (granted Grundy needs to move on which I agree with)

Apart from Roughead, Grundy and Henry, who do you all think are the next most likely players to retire or be traded/delisted to create list space for all the players we’re supposedly drafting and trading in?

Another two busts in the first round from Hine (Macrae and Henry) and Wright is looking like Ned Guy 2.0 more every day (Richmond gets both Taranto and Hopper?), Hawthorn knew he was past it.

This would have to be the BigFooty equivalent of a…

Brown brothers, magden, poulter, chugg

What happened to the days when the footy was just the footy?

Thermos and sangers to Vic Park. Arrive half-time in the 2nds. Win most games, boo the umpires, watch Pelaco Inquest, League Teams etc - make finals - win a couple - lose the GF - simple days.
Was Pelaco Inquest an investigation into stains on shirts?

If we get our investment back on Henry (Pick 17-21) then I think we can happily move on - nothing lost, and at the end of the day if the player doesn't want to be at the club and fight for their spot then we don't need them.
If we get a second round pick for Ollie we can pass it on to GWS for Bobby Hill

Was Pelaco Inquest an investigation into stains on shirts?
To be serious for once, it was on Ch 7 - sponsored by Pelaco shirts, hosted by Mike Williamson - a panel discussed the day's games - must have been on Saturday night??

Interesting. Thoughts on Kelly? Begg? Ruscoe?
I hope we keep Poulter. He has some flare about him.

Begg extended his contract earlier this year.
Ruscoe still contracted until end of 2023
Kelly is OOC

Why are we trading Henry for a pick that will be lower than what we got him for?

We’ve spent two years developing him, given him 25 games experience and proven that he can play at the level. He’s a far less risky prospect now, than when we picked him up! The kid has star potential, he just needs to fill out over the next couple of seasons.

From that perspective I’d be after Geelongs first and second or he can go to the draft.
There's no way anyone is giving up a first and second for someone not in our best 22. I reckon using Henry to convert a third to a first is fair value. The number a player came in at is somewhat irrelevant. Ginnivan was a rookie in that draft, but he'd be worth a fair bit more than Henry in a trade right now.

I wonder if some Adelaide supporters were as cocksure that losing Gunston was no big deal.

If we can extend ourselves contractually to give a 30yo Elliott a 3 year deal we can afford to do the same for a talented 20yo forward in Henry.

I can quite easily see us regretting losing him season on season for the next 10 years and for what? 100K extra now x 2 seasons?

Not worth taking that risk when the savings to pay for it could be easily obtained by removing both Brown brothers (as one example) and replacing them with a couple of national draft selections on minimum chips.

So if Grundy does in fact leave his last game in B&W would have been the ANZAC day game this year.

A game in which I recall quite vividly that he kicked a clutch last quarter goal, showed a heap of emotion and gave it the old tug at the jumper over the heart trick.

Haven’t checked in on this thread for a while, why is everyone suddenly so sure Henry is out the door? Did some inside info drop?
I still have some hope that things can change. But a few media I have talked to thinks it could be likely he could leave. Based on with bringing in those we are, it'll be harder for him to get opportunities.
But I hope he just backs himself in, to get better, add to his game and earn a place. Like other kids.

Too simplistic. Dogs would have or at least should have picked AJ over JUH if they had the option. What's JUH worth or Thilthorpe or a heap of players from Henry's draft who aren't locked into their 22 yet. If the first rounder was likely to be higher than pick15, I might agree, but it isn't.

Wouldn’t worry what the media think. We aren’t bringing in any players that play Ollie’s role so that shouldn’t be influencing his decision
