Why are you discounting his ability to get back to his best?
He’s only 28, and has every opportunity to improve under McCrae, as many others have on the list. The “McCrae effect” is the big stumbling bloke you critics have in suggesting Grundy can’t improve.
Who's the "stumbling bloke" - Grundy or McRae?

If Grundy was fully fit we would be playing in a preliminary and be up against Brisbane.
He'd be the best ruckman left in the season and by a long way.

That one got crickets for some reason
Grundy has never been the difference in a final. Why would last Saturday have been any different? I don’t think Elliott or Ginnivan would have benefitted with more sky balls on their heads when playing on bigger defenders. Darcy Cameron played a fine game as our #1 ruck

Well I don’t think the rest of his game is worth anywhere near the money he earns. So he can win some clearances, but we can dump $700k of his salary and bring in Tom Mitchell who is a much better clearance winner
Do not replace Mitchell with Grundy.
That is a monumentally stupid idea.

I’ve been hearing he can get back to his best for a long time. I very much doubt it will happen.

Nevertheless, I believe we have AFL standard rucks on our list in Cameron and Cox, and McStay will be good chop out. We do not have AFL standard inside midfielders. I would like to cash in on Grundy while we still have the chance, and improve in other areas that need to be improved on so we can win a flag. We didn’t jag a flag with Grundy at his best, and I don’t think we will while he is battling on $950k a season

I’m not in charge of negotiations, and neither are any biased Collingwood supporters. That’s my point. Adjust your expectations, or else you’ll be seriously disappointed

I want to know what your realism is so you can get some respect on the draft board.
What would you accept?

What would you accceot/think for the loss please.
My hope is that we will receive one of the first round selections that Melbourne receive for Jackson, be it Fremantle’s first or future first, or Melbourne’s future first. And I expect we will pay like $200k of his salary per year

We made a grand final with Grundy with an inferior list. Should have made two 2018/19.

Sorry mate but if you think the Club is desperate as with Treloar, Stevo and Phillips, then you are sadly mistaken.

I don’t think it’s as bad as Treloar but we are still forced sellers of a player with injury question marks. And only one known bidder.

The club won’t keep Grundy. His list spot and saved salary is already being committed to others. There’s no way back from here, other than Grundy volunteering to take a big pay cut, which ain’t gonna happen.

I sincerely hope you are correct and will be very happy for you to rub my nose in it if that’s the case. But I wouldn’t swap our positions in this debate.

Doesn’t matter what I think, but I know we won’t get what many here want
It does matter cause you've been blowing your trumpet for the past 2 hours on here with gloom.

So come out with it. What do YOU think will happen to make people bitterly disappointed, prey do tell.

Second rounder and later pick swaps in our favour

I reckon a second rounder and “only” having to pay $200K of Grundy’s salary is about the best we can hope for.

He’s damaged goods, we’re forced sellers and there seems to be only one bidder at the auction. That trio of factors will never result in a strong result for the seller.

Yes, sounds about right, but definitely no less than a 2nd round pick, and maybe steak knives and we pay $150k-$200k max.

If the deal isn’t a good deal for Collingwood…then no deal.
We are not boxed into a corner here.

So many players have performed better under McCrae it’s absurd for you and others to unilaterally dismiss a similar impact on Grundy.

Your doubts are therefore completely unfounded, and illogical.
