Greg Denham THINKS we have offered Wells a guaranteed 500k per year over three years.

I would love Wells but three years is crazy in the age of FA, I think that these jounro's make shit up for shits and giggles a lot of the time.

I'll be fairly disappointed in us if we don't get at LEAST a straight swap Cloke for Jong. Seriously a second or third rounder for Cloke would be complete Bullshit.

Are you suggesting cloke is worth a 1st rounder? I can see us getting a 3rd rounder or a young player from their 2s at best, unless jong decides he wants collingwood.

People on here are kidding themselves. The club are committed to letting him go to the bulldogs. he is not part of our plans. Was not this year and will not be next year. Just because bucks and co say he is still a contracted play does not mean we are holding out for a first rounder or a gun in return.

Take your rose coloured glasses off people. Cloke will not get us much in return

If his name wasn't Cloke, how much would you reasonably expect to get from a 29yo who played reserves for half the season..?

It's 3 years that Wells has been offered. Sum of money not 100%. Thats the only reason he's leaving north.

3 years! Jeez. He'll be lucky to last 2 with his injury history!
Will we be saying the same about Ben Reid? At the moment they both pretty well missed 2 years of footy to come back an play most of the year, thing is wells is fit and Reid had been playing with knee injury requiring surgery, Wells didnt miss all that time with the same injury, he returned to training only to have Petri stand on his foot and break it so I don't think he's anymore injury prone than reidy.

Haha, pie time coming through with the good oil.

I can't believe how much stock people still put into his fevered delusions. Clubs promising to use a first round draft pick on him, going off to be in the World Series of poker, knows Treloar personally so gets all the trade info first hand, he never disappoints!

I'm glad all his impeccable sources have come through with the Wells news though. Credibility restored!

It seems excessive. The deal might be 3 years, but I would've though front ended with performance criteria for the 3rd year.

With so much young talent, and the fact we will need to poach a gun key forward in the next few years, I would like to think we are saving some cap space

I'm happy to go after Wells but offering him a guaranteed 3 years seems very risky. Two years plus a trigger for a third would be my preferred option

I think if we are seriously going to get 3 years out of wells, then he would only be a 15 game a year prospect.

If he could play the big games and be there for potential finals it could work. But he hasn't played a full year in quite some time, so we'd have to manage him really thoroughly to get him through 3 more years of football.

could you imagine wells and treloar both tearing out of contests from the centre. I think wells might have a bit easier time in our midfield, I mean who are the opposition going to put time into, I reckon wells is a few spots from top of that list....

Yes could work out that way. I see an upside in Wells that gives us added flexibility in experienced depth.
Looking at this year when Varcoe got injured and Pendles played with injury we had no ready response. If we are serious about playing finals and not just making up the numbers then having a list that can cover the inevitable injuries of experienced players week in week out is better than only drawing upon the youth. Wells gets my tick.

Wells is runs on the ball more so than Aish and will spend more time in the centre. Theres no problem with our team being more flexible and having guys like Degoey,Aish, Wells and Adams all rotating through the flanks and mid. With a fully fit list id be happy to look at having Sidebottom and Wells running off the back flanks. Good backup idea for Ramsey and sinclair injury history.

Wells being 11 years older its a Given be have more Runs on the Board then Aish

This is the whole point MG. Some pretend to know what's going on. Others fall for it hook, line & sinker.

Having said that I have refrained from Snark. ;)
The other point is not to read the thread or post in it if you don't agree.
I think that some posters have been exceedingly harsh on pie time.
I don't post in all threads because of a potential Snark:p

I cant undersrand some peoples logic about Cloke.
"We just want to free our salary cap, we will accept a later draft"
Why ? The dogs premieship window is open for the next 5 years! As much as i am sympathetic and like them as a club being born and bread in the western suburbs, were not a charity organisation.
Cloke has been a great servant for us a 2 time All-Australian, however each time there was contract negotiations with him David Cloke would hold a gun to our head semingly stating his doing what is best for his son.
Well he should understand we need to do what is best for Collingwood! Same rules apply a round 2 draft pick is not unreasnable pick in the early to mid 30s, and no paying him for next year, if his really desperate to leave these should be our stipulations.

If prefer Koby Stevens over Lin Jong.
*Not rumour*
A few of my "dog" mates reckon he might leave for better opportunity.
Not sure I would want a player coming to his third club. Question why he couldn't make it at his previous two.
At the same time not a fan of bringing in Lin Jong either.
Could be wrong though.
