I only had it on in the background but I believe Robbo on SEN just said he caught up with Daniel Wells yesterday and it's a done deal.
A round of golf may well have been involved in the process.;)

Apparently Gubby let Wells win, sealed the deal.:drunk:

It will be interesting to analyse in years to come whether 2 first rounds is overpaying. I think it might be slightly overpaying, but not at any dangerous proportions.

Lynch is a known quantity whereas of course we don't know what will become of mid first round picks (which is what we'd be offering in this instance).

I wouldn't want to make a practice of it because of the draft and wage implications (and knock on effects of higher wages) but at this point I think it will set us up beautifully for 7-10 years.
A majority of people believe that 2 first rounders for treloar worked out ok, I think tom lynch would have a much greater impact on performance so on that you would have say it would be a good deal.

Our second round and Witts to get into GWS late first round would be ideal.
As has been mentioned already, it would be great if Witts is open to going wherever his onfield prospects are better, rather than picking one team. Ideally, he says 'yes' to GCS, GWS, one or two Melbourne-based clubs etc.

What's the Blair situation looking like at the moment?

Would it be fair to say that, although he didn't have much of a year, the Pies will probably keep him next year. Or is there a stronger chance that he won't be offered another contract, and that the team will work with our other current small forward options and the players we're aiming for in this year's draft?

The last I heard which was some weeks ago, he was offered a contract, but is yet to sign, but that was back in late July

Blair has been offered a deal (rumoured to be only one year), but hasn't accepted it yet. Maybe he's exploring all his options, but the club have offered him a deal so it's up to him.

As much as Blair is maligned by many (including myself) he played 21 games this year.

The ball is in his court.

Word was that he was offered a one-year deal.
Maybe Gubby's hoping that GCS need another 'good clubman'.

Ellis-yolmen might want to leave Adelaide, I'd swap broomhead for him.
I presume you mean if Broomhead wants to go home to adelaide. I doubt we will trade him unless he wants to go. I think Ellis-Yolmen would be a good pick up. Especially if we were to get WHE and Mayne.

One of the main reasons Pies wanted Mayne is too play Blairs role but taller. Don't think Gubby rates him.

Yes, VFL. Not sure why it's such a revelation to you, but improvement is improvement regardless of the league he's been playing in. Watching him 12 months ago in the VFL compared to his form this season has been a stark contrast. His NAB form was better than Grundy's and he was our starting ruck in round 1. If not for his hand injury and subsequent infection in that game he could well have been our starting ruck for the first half of the year.

And you've just nullified your position completely by cherry picking his game vs the dogs where literally none of our players performed to an acceptable standard. Well done.
As a leader, as your supposed lynchpin ruckman, he did nothing to raise the performance of others. He showed in that game that he has no grunt, no leadership, that he is a follower in the smallest sense. He is a drifter and hasn't got what it takes to make it in a game full of alpha types. If we get a pick in the 20s for that type of person, we will have done well because if you were to line up character types and choose, his type would be the last chosen.
