No offence, but saying he likes jazz played by an African American and therefore can't be racist towards an indigenous Australian doesn't make a lot of sense.

The work with an indigenous charity might be more relevant though.

I didn't link him liking Miles Davis with being racist toward an indigenous player. I offered two instances, the first as I said being supericial (although I don't imagine hardened racists quoting Bitches Brew as his favourite album), the second instance was his role with indigenous charity Red Dust.

He might be a w*nker/sledger but you'd want some fairly solid mail before going with the racist claim.

Insulted Danyle Pearce's mother with racist comments back in 2012, prior to that also made racist comments towards an indigenous footballer.

Heard whispers from the bulldogs camp that he was causing disruptions in the team as early as March last year.

I hope that his work with the charity means he is a changed man. Would hope so.

I respect your view because your posts have been well thought out. Putting these players to the side for the time being, do you think our development team are amongst the best in the AFL?

We won a flag with the best development team headed, amazingly, by Luke Beveridge. We have been to static for the past 3 years in player development and clearly plummeted in context to the competition. More focus has been on leadership given the significant adjustment to the list and i believe we went on a year too long with this. Hopefully this has now been acknowledged and we are refocusing on player development and skill acquisition. Proof will be in the pudding so to speak.

That's not the point bud. Frost was under contract, whether he had a choice to make he made the wrong one if this turns out true. Probably someone our club can do without if the case. Poor form from the Lions but really would we expect any better from a bottom feeder.

Varcoe is the same player he was at Geelong, it's just that his high skill level stands out at Collingwood. How are JDG, Langdon, Blair, Witts, Marsh, Williams, Broomhead, Sier, Oxley and Gault tracking?

Not sure why you're throwing JDG or Marsh in there. They're both better players than they were 12 months ago, and Broomhead has been injured. Fairly sure our development team can't be held responsible for that. Everyone else you've listed are late or rookie picks or in Siers case, a project player who's also been injured.

Young Isaac would look very handsome in black and white. Add him to the wishlist with Fyfe and Lynch.

So a young player hasn't had his contract extended 12 months early.... What a non story.

Footballer doesn't play final (even VFL) because he may get injured??? He may've played well & increased his contract too, I guess.

Of course in the real world people would not be selfish when it comes to protecting their career. People forget that for these guys it's their livelyhood. Frost would have had a contract on the table and considering most of his time at collingwood was as a rookie listed player it's not like he has been making good coin. He is still trying to make his way. I think you are being very harsh

Frost might have been a rookie for the first 3 years, but that doesn't mean he was on a base contract. He was paid well and agreed to stay on the rookie list for an extended period in order to give the club flexibility in their recruiting strategies, on the proviso that he was made the nominated upgraded rookie before the season began.

Intetesting discussion going on between Lucas and Allen on SEN re a player not playing in a VFL Preliminary Final because they were told not to by a northern club. Intriguing hypothetical if you ask me...

There was a post on the Lions board earlier in the week that a player they are keen on failed a medical.
He may well have been told not to play.

I think it was covered in the VFL gameday thread too. I can't remember the poster that put it out there, but it was mooted that the club were not impressed with Jack not playing.

No, but I wouldn't use Frost as an example of our poor development. Marley or Langdon definitely, but Frost's complete lack of a football brain was always going to inhibit his development.

How can you include Langdon, how many games did he play this year?

What I was told:
Yeah we are, Gubby (sound like a broken record) as everyone has heard doesn't rate the list and doesn't rate the list managers. Development staff were let go and a 1-2 recruiters will be let go after the draft. I don't agree on the all the players you've named there but there has been stalled development for a long time.

Thought I heard tonight on Ch7 news that all our list managers/recruiters have re-signed?
