JC is probably the best like for like for Lippa as a mid/fwd. I hope that’s the way they go. He has an opportunity to cement a spot in the side while Lips is out injured.

I rate the kid. Would love to see him get some early games under the belt. Has the ability to launch a bomb from 50 out, and looks to have worked on his tank. Need all the scoring firepower we can get.
Completely agree. JC is the best like for like replacement for Lippa. Goal-scoring mid. I see JC as a part of the Pies future and the more games we get into him the better

Would be great to pinch this whilst they have some injuries.

In terms of full strength vs full strength though, I feel we are still one gun FB, one gun half back flanker, and one pacey long kicking gun mid away from challenging for a flag. So that’s $2m of player salary we don’t have, or have redeployed it inefficiently… including to other teams..

Could Richards get an early debut?
Based on what? Sadly, he has been down for the past few weeks, so is nowhere near beating out more established players for a game.

Would need to start kicking bags or racking up 30 touches in the twos to get a game. I’d say both Allan and Ryan are ahead of him at this precise moment in time.

Not to mention Carmy, WHE, Hill, Ginni, Macrae and Draper

I think we have gun half back flankers. Its funny how some keep saying we are lacking (which most teams are in at least one area) yet we were within a bee's dick of playing a side we worried in the grand final last year.
In 2018 we also lacked superstars but were within a minute of a famous premiership win.
It's never as far away as it seems.

Completely agree. The game is not played on paper. We match up well against Geelong. What impressed me most about the preseason games was composure. Like last season efficient and purposeful.

Ash to pinch hit in the ruck, as Cox has been poor

Won’t happen, but what I’d like to see
Please. Ash has not contested anything in the last week or two of 2022 and he hasn't touched the pill in the one praccy I saw him in. Yet he is going to take on the ruck role and crash and bash at the centre bounces before resting up forward and wreaking havoc. When AJ has rediscovered his passion for the contest and shows a willingness to chase, tackle, shepherd and fight for the pill as if his life depended on it he can find a place back in our senior side.

This is providing that JDG misses (1 week) and all i know the lippa may miss a few rounds as well we will have to wait and see will know more on these 2 come tuesday wednesday this week.

Not gonna lie.

If Henry plays I hope he doesn't see out the game.
I hope IQ plays on him and leads him a merry dance. I can see IQ dashing out of defence, while the hapless Henry just plods along 15 metres behind him.

Reading the tea leaves over the preseason, this is how I expect us to line up in round 1. For what it’s worth, I would rather we play JC instead of Hosk.

I think Murphy/Frampton/Noble selections will be purely matchup based week to week.
