Yep, which makes more sense about why he would come out publicly and profess a good chance to play. If he was a real chance better to keep it quiet and spring it late.
We also need a friendly obstetrician to slip Cameron's missus a mickey so she goes into labour on game day.

I think we have gun half back flankers. Its funny how some keep saying we are lacking (which most teams are in at least one area) yet we were within a bee's dick of playing a side we worried in the grand final last year.
In 2018 we also lacked superstars but were within a minute of a famous premiership win.
It's never as far away as it seems.
dont think you can keep relying on over-performing to reach finals & pinch a grannie. I'd much rather be in the position of Melb, Brisbane or Sydney, with an abundance of skillful and dangerous players...

Fly did an amazing job last year, but we are behind these teams re list, and the competition is only getting stronger. Ie the depth of Brisbane's midfield is off the charts now, whilst we are relying on slow ageing players to defy the test of time and remain elite

In the first practice match Cox was just about bog from what I saw.
sorry what... vs Carlton? Smashed by De Koning. vs Hawks... 5 possessions, 1 stupid free kick.. running away from the contest.

He'll obviously play, but Johnson is actually a footballer, whereas I fear that Cox will well and truly show this year that he is not.

$500k to WB & Melbourne... $1.5m on Sidey, Frampton, WHE, Ruscoe, that I'm sure GW would love to re-purpose towards the three gun players we need to challenge

Hang on, so only 500k to Melbourne whilst we have Hawthorn paying that for Titch. GW was apart of the signing Frampton crew so thats incorrect.

Sidey is a veteran and WHE has been serviceable and may or may not lose his spot this year. Ruscoe looks unlikely to make it at this stage but the same was said for Murphy 12 months ago.

Daics x 2, JDG hitting his prime, Crispy who is flying, plus the experience of Titch, Pendles, Tay and Sidey. As we showed last year, we can and will continue to match the top echelon of teams.

Probably wouldn't be making claims off the back of 2 practice matches no one cares about. Maybe wait until the real games start.

Johnson may be a footballer, but he strikes me at times as lazy. Needs to work hard on his fitness otherwise he's destined to spend all season in the VFL. His performance and attitude in finals last year is hard to shake off.

How disrespectful to Cox.

The man destroyed Richmond in a prelim final while Richmond were on top of the world. I'm pretty sure that makes you a footballer...

pendles is now a HBF, Sidey is a HFF, Tay is a forward pocket, and all including Mitch are slow. So it'll be up to the first 4 players to keep up with opposition midfields, with Mitch a handy addition to help with clearances & link up play.

& I wouldnt use past years as comfort when our star players are clearly on the decline. By that thinking you must also expect Pendles to be "matching the top echelon" of players in 10 years time. Theres a reason none of those second grouping of mids made the AA 40 squad last year....

I’m sorry, but Tay spending more time forward due to more players rotating through the midfield does not make him a forward pocket. That’s utter nonsense.

Haha nice baiting. Pendles will play on ball, Sidey on the wing like last year, Tay will play onball and forward, and what the hell does pace have to do with it when we have the likes of Crisp, JDG, Hill etc running through the midfield.

To be an AFL footballer you have to work hard defensively.

Johnson is not a footballer yet.

Yes, I think this is a sober assessment. And we have a much tougher draw this season. 6th-10th feels likely to me.

Bulldogs with the best KP prospects.
Darcy, JUH, Naughton and that other bloke. His name escapes me.
I only want one of them.

Heard Ollie will be wearing training under pants for when he shits himself lining up on Maynard

Hopefully Henry’s MCG debut against us is much like Jack Watts’.

Anyone remember the Dees’ No1 draft pick virtually cowering in the fetal position upon debut against us? He never really recovered.

Hoping it goes the same way for the whiney little mummy’s boy.

COLLINGWOOD’S PREDICTED 23

B: B. Maynard, D. Moore, I. Quaynor

HB: N. Daicos, J. Howe, S. Pendlebury

C: J. Daicos, J. Crisp, S. Sidebottom

HF: J. Elliott, D. McStay, W. Hoskin-Elliott

F: B. Hill, B. Mihocek, B. McCreery

FOLL: D. Cameron, J. De Goey, T. Mitchell

I/C: T. Adams, M. Cox, B. Frampton, J. Noble

Sub: J. Carmichael

Notable absentees: J. Ginnivan (suspended), P. Lipinski (shoulder), N. Murphy

Jon Ralph’s selection dilemma: Collingwood’s line-up is relatively settled but they will have to find another midfielder with Pat Lipinski out for half the season.

With Brayden Maynard back after a minor leg infection it would presumably squeeze out one of Nathan Murphy or Billy Frampton for the clash against a Cats side that could still contain Tom Hawkins as well as Jeremy Cameron.

Frampton played 96 per cent game time as the deepest defender against Hawthorn and while he is untidy by foot at times he is in front of Murphy if the Pies only play one of the pair.

One of Reef McInnes, Oleg Markov or Josh Carmichael will probably squeeze in as the sub, with Carmichael performing well in that role last year.

Hasn’t WHE spent the whole off-season re-training in the backline?

Yeah, but he is one that can play multiple positions.
But I reckon Reef will be the one to come in. And maybe Carmy/WHE as sub.
