** you Matt Clarke. ** you Don Pyke. **** you team dry sheets.

You were all warned. The writing was on the wall from the very beginning of this period.

Officially the weakest club in the AFL. Opposition clubs must get a hard on every time they see us at the end of a deal.

**** this club.
It’s the Coaster Curse

Be it West or Gold - you get the most out of a Coast

According to Twomey's last draft guide and excluding FS and Academy players...

1. Langford
2. Smith
3. FOS
4. Reid
5. Lalor
6. Smillie
7. Draper
8. Armstrong
9. Tauru
10. Travaglia
11. Allan
12. Hotton
13. Trainor
14. Berry
15. Lindsay
And I'll throw Cooper Hynes in there, too. We've been linked to him and if we are set on him it may explain our otherwise abysmal pick downgrade.

I think we can kiss goodbye to the top 7 midfielders listed above, as well as Tauru and Allan. Then again, stranger things have happened... Could one of them slide?
I doubt we have interest in Armstrong, so let's hope he gets snapped up before our selection, which is likely.
Travaglia is still a chance, albeit slim.
Hotton and Trainor concern me with the go-home factor, although both fill a need.
Berry and Lindsay get a bit of love around here, so I doubt anyone would be too upset if we land them.
But my best guess is that we've identified an even dozen or so players in the open pool, and we are happy to see who makes it through to us. In an ideal world, someone like Draper or Travaglia will slide, otherwise we take Cooper Hynes.

Perhaps this view helps rationalise our irrational decision somewhat. Nevertheless, how we couldn't find a better deal is beyond me. Genuinely embarrassing stuff. I'm shocked and gutted.

Dons supporter who initially came here for a lol. However going to give an unbiased reaction

  • Baker and Owies make you instantly more competitive next year
  • You can throw a blanket over the top 20 in this draft, you will still get a very good kid at pick 12
  • With future picks from Barrass trade, you can then trade back into this draft

Pick 12, ok we can choose Kako....

Think I might find a new hobby next season tbh

F*ck that, you're taking back the voting thread coz I refuse to put the name Owies into the spreadsheet.

Removing cost from the equation for a moment, this trade improves our floor still and we should have a very good squad of young guys running around in the WAFL over the next year or two rather having them play AFL when they're clearly not ready.

I am equally confused with this decision as anyone, but you realise this isn't right yea?

Baker, Owies and player at pick 12 combined v player at pick 3, is what we need to judge this trade on.

Only solution I can think of, is West Coast are going down the Hawthorn way of list management and lifting their floor, rather than lifting their ceiling, to then attract players to the club and be able to lift the ceiling in future trade/draft periods.

Only difference is Hawthorn paid unders for all their recruits, where as we are paying overs.

We will lose this trade unless pick 14/15 ends up being better than everyone taken between pick 3 & 15. Which has to be close to zero chance of happening.

Substantially increased the risk that none of Baker, Owies or pick 14/15 are on the list in 6 years time.

Now waiting on WCE to trade barras for F1 and F2 and then spend 3 firsts on Warner next year to really push back our rebuild another 10 years

Really hope we get on our skates, need to hit up Gold Coast. Oscar Allen and future 2nd for Levi Casboult. Make it happen Matty Clarke...Gold Coast delisting him was 4d chess

Owies kicked 60 the last 2 years at a pretty good Carlton fwd line.

You can sort of compare... The feet of Curnow and .McKay now at the feet of Snake and Oscar he could be dangerous

Won't be at the feet... crumbing is not in Owies' dna...

He gets his goals by identifying space and finding himself in good spots. Has a nice set shot finish too.

like everyone else just can't be happy with this deal. But thinking about all I see is the club has firm sights on Chad Warner and thats the only thing I can possibly think of that would make them do this.
They want to win 5-8 games next year and be seen as an up and coming team.

Other than that this makes no sense when rebuilding.
Unless they manufacture a deal to get Warner before 8pm tomorrow, nothing will make this right with Eagles fans.

It also ensures Baker arrives with no goodwill from a large group of fans and, rightly or wrongly, probably removes a fair bit of McQualter's goodwill because it could be viewed that he's sold the farm to bring a mate in.

McWally sold the board with a good old fashioned 5 year plan eh?
