Or you could add a Wardlaw and a Hewett. Cant see any of Chesser, Culley and Edwards being A grade midfielders. Chesser more half back or wing, Culley an inside B grader and Edwards a B grader at best.
A Vic Metro kid with hammies more paper thin than Petch's and a WA mid tipped to land outside the Top 10 on Draft day. Sure am feeling mighty confident rn.

Yeah you could go wardlaw

Chesser hasn't played yet so that's a bit unfair

Edwards and Culley just started....those three have the potential to become elite

My argument is that this draft the top 10 are not standouts apart from Ashcroft so really getting a top 10 is going to be the same as getting at top 20

mids are a dime a dozen key position players are the key IMO... barrass Gov Jackson Allen darling.....good spine throw in a ageing NicNat and that gives us a good base.

so now eagles are after an undersized key forward in Georgiades (Waterman does a similar role) and an undersized ruck in Jackson. There goes most of our picks for this draft neglecting the area of most need the midfield. I hope this is just speculation and doesnt come about

Just nice to know we're still a destination which players are willing to consider being traded to. Preventing the dockers from getting a good deal here is a bonus.

Don't want it to sound like I'm potting Jackson as he seems like he will have a great career, but I'm not sure if it's the best way to spend the currency we have. As others have said, you can get serviceable rucks for not much. That doesn't mean we don't need him, couldn't use him, but we desperately need to find premium young midfield talent and unless you get crazy lucky with a late pick, they almost always come at a huge cost.

I won't be unhappy if we ended up with Jackson but we need to identify the kid with the best chance of becoming an elite mid and pick that guy.

We don't need Jackson , trading to get him hinders our rebuild . If we draft Wardlaw in 2 - 3 years time he may net us a great trade in picks if there is go home factor . Let's get talent through the draft and if there is go home factor we can benefit like Geelong did with Kelly . Don't waste our picks or blow our Salary cap this early in the rebuild.

If we get Jackson at the expense of a top midfield prospect I'm going to be ropeable.

He had a pretty good second half in the Grand Final, what's he done this year apart from spud it up in a couple of finals against Tom Hickey and whoever it was that Brisbane threw into the ruck.

While playing second fiddle to the best ruckman of his generation mind you.

**** me.

Jackson supposedly seems himself as a potential midfielder, not sure how succesful he is going to be with that

Oh well if he has midfield potential.

Welcome to West Coast Luke Jackson.

One thing is for certain, Fremantle need to get some quick sells in once trading opens to be a live chance at Jackson.

They may take under's on a few departing players just to ensure they have the capital to reinvest in Jackson.

They're list managers will be under a tonne of pressure to get deals finalised.

Luke Jackson is Luke Jackson, but a draft pick could be anything, even Luke Jackson.

But seriously, if we pick up say Wardlaw and he never reaches his peak because of his chronic hammies, then we'd be looking pretty foolish to not even entertain the prospect of say splitting pick 2 into 10 and 15, and trading one of them for Jackson. Here is a key position player that is actually realising his potential, but we want the as yet tested kid that may turn out to be a bust (even if it's more probable than not that he will succeed).

As I said before, however, still think Freo want him more than us and the Lobb exit will help them make a deal, probably via a three way.

Jackson to me is an awesome second ruck. Not big enough to take a constant pounding in the ruck as number 1, but can come in and turn games in bursts, then if want to play your no. 1 ruck as a defensive ruck can have him ruck the front half, play through the midfield, and hurt up forward. He needs to improve as a forward.

Would work great with Darcy. If we could have got a player like him to partner with Nic Nat when cox retired would have been perfect.

Not where we are at now though.

But you’re not getting Jackson for one of pick 10 or 15. That would be a starting point but they’d ask for a lot more on top of that.

Which of Geelong, Sydney or Brissy spent up big in the ruck? And the other side left in it only started playing good footy once their expensive ruck stopped playing. Also bar last year, the last 10 premiers all had makeshift guys in the ruck.

I'm an admitted Jackson fan boy, reckon he'll be a gun. But paying up big for a ruckman just doesn't seem to be the way to win to build a flag winning list
To be a success you need A grade players all over the park. Jackson looks like he’ll be one of those, and he’s got 10+ years of footy ahead of him.

Then we walk away and threaten them with a PSD pick up if they cannot get something done with Freo.

I'm fine with a straight swap for pick 2, if Melbourne are happy with that (from the looks of their board and the DFT board they want more than just that). I know a lot here would be angry about it, though.

Freo's first round pick this year + next year would be the asking price from Melbourne

Whether that's their existing first round, or what they expect to get from Lobb will be the sticking point

So in summary:

Luke Jackson is Luke Jackson :thumbsu:
Midfielder might fail but it's more probable he will succeed :thumbsu:
Freo will probably get Jackson, leaving us with ... a midfielder most likely to succeed :thumbsu:
