We suck next year we should ask for the same.
Honestly we cant complain about PPs as we have received them in the past (Shuey and Darling I believe, admittedly under a different system) but I cant imagine a scenario at all where the AFL would willingly award us priority picks even if we're dog shit the next two years.

Bloke in the know on the North board hinting that they'll be getting pick 2 as a PP. Does that change our chances of downgrading our first rounder?
Can’t find that anywhere. One itk hearing 11 + 19 from a couple of sources and another saying it’s a pick in the single digits. Are you just dribbling nonsense again?

I don't think anyone is complaining about PPs in isolation. The complaints centre around Norf lobbing a grenade at their list, being purposefully shit house, and then asking for assistance to get back to a state of relevance.

Second pick of the fifth round.

But you can only take the same amount of picks to the draft as you have list spaces.

So if you only have 5 vacant list spots, and need 3000 points, you’re going to need 5 second round picks.
The restrictions on picks is clear but I suggest Lions can take their limited picks in and once the bid on Ashcroft is made at the start of night 1, the deal is done and the big splits are transacted.

Lions sell off 15-18 - a gain of 500 points likely and deal is probably agreed a couple of weeks before
At the same time, Lions sell off McStay compo which is expected to be end R1. A gain of likely 400 points.

These deals will have been agreed, just not lodged. The clubs tend to honour prior agreements as they need to keep it amicable for future years.

Not sure how low it will take me to come to peace with the Cats. It seems like WCE have learnt to get over the Ebert screw over with Port.

McStay deal is rumoured at $3mil over 5 years which is similar to what Amon’s contract is said to be

It’s always hard to know with the AFL but I can see both being round 2 compo rather than end of round 1

He legitimately looks like he's the son of Weird Al:

The more I look at Jackson the more I realise this poor unfortunate blokes chin is bigger than the rest of his head.

We can't trade down from pick 2. We rarely pick in the top 4 and don't miss when we do.
We need to give Brisbane the best package of picks for their first rounder. A potential top 10 player will slide in the draft. Happens every year.

In regards to pushing senior players out, the club should have taken a hard line with them in the first place. No more long term deals without performance triggers to activate the contracts final year. We were smart enough to use that option with Redden.

We've paid far too many into their twilight on past performance, to the detriment of the team.

The Jamie Cripps contract was the classic fail from our list manager. He's already left Victoria to return home to WA. So why contract him for 5 years until he's 32? Who were we bidding against? He's already left Victoria.

I thought Cripps last contract was a 3 year deal in 2020.

Freo looking to replace Lobb with Schae from Bulldogs and Acres with Sharp... Massssssive downgrades.
Lobb has had a breakout year. Which by any other decent players standards is still a mediocre year
Shache is extremely mediocre so its not that bad of a deal

End of Round 1 (assuming there is a Norf PP at 19, becomes 20. Points for pick 20 = 912
End of Second round pick means after Norf and after Port so best case is 35 (33 plus 2) = 522

That would be a significant drop - 400 odd points means they will act likely trade a future.

Required for Ashcroft at 1 is 2,400 points plus Fletcher say 20 of 730 points (both been discounted 20%) for total 3,130

Current Lions hand = 2,086 points
Add premium for pick 15-18 of 500
Add McStay compo of 522
Current points after R1 go back 100 due to in between picks
Possible points equals 3,008

Therefore, there is little chance Lions go into deficit with their first rounder next year so are likely sellers of their second rounder next year. That would net them an additional 500 points. I am sure the Suns would do a deal but not sure how many picks the Suns can take into draft night.

You have literally no idea on the details of Cripps contract... how much he got paid, whether he was willing to take a paycut in return for a long-term deal, whether there are any performance clauses or whatever.

Clubs can only turnover a handful of players each year. When you clean out the low-level spuds each year, that really only leaves a handful of retirements each year. Which senior players are hanging on beyond their time?

Jamie Cripps contract is definitely not our problem.
