Future third round pick for Blake Acres from Carlton ......
Sounds about right might be something else but future third is the central pick for Acres
Acres had a pretty good year. Think the blues are getting the better of that deal. Acres would’ve added a fair bit to our team and I know we were interested in his draft year.

I doubt that Fremantle feel this way. They have prospered quite well out of some dealings with the Suns….. maybe it’s just a West Coast thing 😳
They did well getting the pick 3 that landed them Brayshaw (I think).
We did well with the pick swap in 2018.

But mainly, GCS are a Vic feeder organisation.
Lobb. What? Barely worth a second.
Have to agree.
On talent alone worth more. But he's 30 at the start of next season, injury prone and has never had a sustained run of either games or form.
Those things are all value reducers and as such you have to ask yourself the two questions...

1) if your club was the buyer, what would you be willing to pay? and
2) if your club was the seller, what would you be willing to take?

As a buyer I'd pay a 3rd or late 2nd. Any higher and the risk/reward doesn't float my boat.
As a seller I'd be disappointed to get only a 3rd but a mid to high 2nd... I'd take that and run. Especially with getting the salary off the books as well.

Heard a bit of a rumour about a potential 3 way deal. Not sure if it's of any interest here because it doesn't involve West Coast but interesting all the same.
Freo trying to get Peter Wright across from Essendon.
They've proposed a 3 way deal with Hawthorn as the 3rd party. They have proposed sending Caleb Serong across to Essendon for Peter Wright but to sweeten the deal they've suggested sending their first pick to Hawthorn who would then send Caleb's brother Jai across to Essendon. That way Freo get their man and the Serong brothers hook up together at Essendon and the Hawks get a good early pick.
Essendon, however, have rejected the deal.
Apparently they said, "Two Serongs don't make a Wright."

Freo send their 1st to the Hawks?
Melbourne fans will melt 🤣

True - I’d still argue some of the reported mega deals some of the GWS and GCS players were/are on is partly to blame for their situation.

If there are no spare pennies in the piggy bank that is poor list management IMO - I’d also add I’m convinced WCE have mucked list management up too in recent years.

Don't really get this argument. Yeh sure they overpaid quite a few players. The alternative is to let them leave. Seems like it's overpay players or never retain enough players to build an assault at a premiership or even build culture and history.

Exactly, the AFL set up feeder clubs for other teams...

So does the news today that West Coast have no interest in Jackson actually make it more interesting?
If Belly tries to poach him on the cheap which i reckon is a Peter Bell thing ( he’s loves to win a trade) at what point do the Dee’s come to us or tell Freo to get stuffed and walks to PSD?

I'll be very disappointed if we don't at least participate in driving up his price even if we're not interested.

Thank flock that I have absolutely no interest in trade radio. Craig Hutchinson and his cronies trying to build up interest.

We are for sure hitting the draft hard. If there are any deals, I expect it is after what those tin rattlers from Arden St decide and we might be dealing.

Only aspect out of trade week I think will be relevant is the Amon compo pick or a future second for Free Willy.

But GWS departures allowed to nominate their clubs rather than a state?

To be fair there are limited options in Victoria so perfectly reasonable to nominate a club, with the multiple options available in other states they should just pick the state, not a team.

This is exactly the play.

We don't need to offer to trade for him to drive up the price, just say that we absolutely would take him if available in the PSD but understand his desire to get to freo via a fair trade.

No offering pick 2 etc.

Then Melbourne hold out. Freo will come to the party

The more I look at this Bowes situation, the more I wonder what we can do.

POSSIBLE

WCE > 20, 38

GCS > Bowes, 7, 34

Gives us 2, 7, 26, 34 this year. Plus Bowes who can play both mid and back.

Yes Bowes has a big salary for the next 2 years. Worst case reportedly $600k per year. But why not renegotiate a new deal (say 4 years at $400k per year). It means a salary spread, extra length for Bowes.

The pick upgrade from 20 > 7 is worth the gamble alone.

There’s no chance where getting Bowes, he’s going to a Victorian club

Even if these figures are accurate (and apparently he's on $800k), there is no point for Bowes to do this. He's giving up $1.2m to get $1.6m with two extra years (works out at $200k extra per year for the additional two years). I think he'd back himself in to make a fair bit more than $200k a year in two years time, he's actually a good player.

Not withstanding that GCS also want to move picks into next year, not this year.

All these scenarios and what will West Coast do....Rioli for Ports 3rd round pick and nothing else. We'll get right royally screwed over as we have done every year for the last 10 years.

A 3rd round pick doesnt really do us much good - I genuinely think we'd let him walk out of spite.
