To me? Somewhere in the 10-16 range. I think he’s a tremendous talent and fits perfectly what we want, but will acknowledge I think I’m higher on him than some.

As mentioned though I’m big into the known quantity over draft picks options. If he was in this draft and we took him at 2 I’d assume that was a reach, but man if we had pick 10 and picked a speculative promising 18 year old instead of him I’m not sure I’d be on board.

Jesus Christ, have any of you actually watched Georgiades play the last year or two? Yes he’s a decent prospect but he’s a tweener, he’ll never be an elite forward and he’s a horrible fit next to Oscar

Not to mention his dodgy quads

Pick 15-25 ...quad injury , longterm injury through juniors so few red flags .

Badge's trade proposal sounds reasonable enough though it would be nice to get a little sweetener. Problem is North would be the team that would need to provide it.

The idea of Meek appeals to me less now, knowing we already have

Naitanui for another 2 years
Williams for another couple
& Jamieson until 2025.

Meek on a presumably multi year deal with them just seems excessive. Needed to cut one of the above and add Broadbent if we were keen on bringing Meek in.

Jamieson was playing well as a chb it was reported.

Williams as a junior was a forward.

Meek is a ruck.

Get Meek with 38 and we can focus all our top picks on mids for two drafts.

From a roo supporter....

Heard whispers that Port want:
JHF and future priorty 2nd
For
Pick 8, F1, Bergman and Mitch Georgiades
Source: friends of Port recruiter. Being planned for weeks now.

North have to take some blame for JHF wanting out. An 18 year old on his own in another state with no friends or family around.

Is known to not be the most easy going character going around. Then he has senior North players leaking negative stories and gossip about him to the media and making negative comments anonymously.

And ex club greats like David King are slagging him off. He is being painted a a villain for club supporters by the club itself. Plus the club is winning the wooden spoon, sacking the coach, possibly being relocated in coming years to Tassie.

Plus they have very limited off field resources and contacts to set him up for life outside footy. What did they think was going to happen?

For all our faults and recent blunders at least our club would be never mishandle a draftee to this extent and have things blow up in our face as badly as this.

That being said, hard to see where the draft capital to get this done comes from from Port.

So chances are North will hold pick 1 and 8 plus ?

Bergman from Port may become involved but read he isnt an inside mid like JHF.

What does this do for Norths strategy?

Do they take Cadman at 1 and a JFH replacement at 8?

Do they go Wardlaw at 1 and Busslinger at 8? Good selections those.

Do they still split pick 1?

I would put my house on them not taking Phillapou at all.

So why are Hawthorn and us interested, and Freo want to keep him?

No improvement left in him at 24? Nothing left to learn from Nic for the next two years?
I have no clue why anyones interested unless he comes free.

He’s not going to get much bigger and Williams is two years younger.

One was mainly going up against first rucks whereas Meek would’ve faced second stringers for the majority.

He’ll likely improve but I just don’t see him being afl quality, at 203cm and 110kg he should be winning more hitouts.

Port can do this deal 6 different ways without any problems.

So at what age do you feel rucks peak?

Don't forget that he is under contract and this is highly, highly embarassing to North as a club and the people within the club who made the decision to knock back the Crow's offer.

Trading him out means people who make the calls within the club would be admitting that they were wrong, they made a massive **** up and it has cost the club a ton of opportunity cost. Human beings really don't like doing that. They will find any excuse not to do that.

Expect North to be stubborn as hell on the price. In fact i think they might just say No and keep him another year and see if he changes his mind, even if you could argue that if they somehow got offered two first rounders, even if they weren't early firsts, they should just take it.

This isn't a garden variety trade where you can expect both parties to think and act rationally. North will act emotionally and irrationally because the ego's and professional reputations of people within the club and the reputation of the club is being tarnished by what is hapenning.

I think they will be wanting our pick 2 to go with their 1st pick - how port get it from us is another matter. Pick 8, F1st and Georgiades, or something akin to this.

He's been a known go home form before he was drafted, not exactly a surprise
If the reason for knocking back the Crows offer was that they wanted the marketing boost of having a number 1 pick on the list then it has be asked what kind of basket case club lets the marketing department and marketing concerns dictate their drafting and trading calls for them?

Probably the same club that had three recruiting staff walk out on them and sacked their coach
