People were tying themselves in knots to say it isn’t a big deal they don’t tell us when the coach is signed, if it were a player it would be different etc etc.

Well now it’s a player.

West Coast take the absolute piss, the members and fans are just along for the ride and in no way respected at the moment.

Our big crime is being interested in the club. We want to know who’s healthy, we want to know who’s signed. What a burden.
It's part of the reason I hate when people back the club no matter what. West Coast treats it's fans with complete disdain most of the time, until it comes time to take our money. It can and does make the wrong decisions frequently, the club is not infallible

Ah yes, the Facebook mouthbreather "you're not a real fan, go support the Dorkers" at the slightest criticism muppet.

Heard some news that S&C ISNT being backed and there are some very good programs being put into tender to take the WCE S&C program.

Interesting to me after the club or old mate Nisbett backed the old guard publicly

Did Nisbett actually say that or was it Hagdorn gobbing off. Might have to go over some older interviews etc

Anyway, this added to Sumich saying we offered Don Pyke a football role (that he knocked back) means we may actually be making some changes

That would be a positive if true

Please be true.

At a bare minimum we need to be exploring our options. We clearly have room for improvement in several areas

Actually I’m not sure and apologise for stating that as fact. I’d have to check

My source is well connected in the S&C world and I challenged him by saying it’s not like WCE to go public then do something different …. He just smirked at me

This would align with some suggestions from BOND 007 too I believe.

Since 2010 when we got Gov, and omitting re-rookied players or pickups from other clubs…

2011: Mascoulis (RIP), Papertalk, Tunbridge
2012: Sinclair
2013: Maginness, Powell
2014: Adamson, Brophy
2015: Snadden
2016: Gorter, Bayok, Watson
2017: Burrows, Olango, England
2018: Edwards, Riach, Bines
2019: Treacy, O’Neill, Reid
2020: Trew

Sinclair and Edwards are the only two that have really done anything, out of 21 picks. So not a great strike rate.

Thanks for the list, good (or bad) to see it all laid out.

Perhaps more a point for the draft board -
Not sure if there's enough players there to call it a trend per se but the players that have actually worked out (including Gov) are all rucks/KPP. We do have a really good track record of developing our more project talls.

Can only really see Olango as a true KPP that has been a failure on that list. I refuse to acknowledge the Gorter selection as having existed. The rest of the list screams of 'we haven't got/drafted enough developing mids so we'll fill that need in the rookie draft'.

With our picks likely to be higher in the next few seasons we should have increased our developing mid stocks across that time - over that period would love for us to focus in the rookie draft on project/emerging state level talls (even if in their early 20s but have just come onto state level scene) or pickups like Jones. If it's a choice late in the ND between say a project ruck or a small forward like Willie/Cameron (who had the talent) would rather us go the small and save the tall for the RD.

Look for those Mason Cox types from outside the box even. Would back us more to develop a 211cm American basketball import than Callan England or Jordan Snadden into first-picked AFL mids. If they develop but don't fit into our side gives us capital like in the Sinclair case at least.

From a contracts/trades point of view would be good to assess which talls from other clubs (like St Kilda etc who may not have developed them properly) would be worth a rookie spot should they be delisted.

Would be really nice to see - I think it's safe to assume that whether we were making changes or not the club would do their best to keep us in the dark about it.

Which could be a good thing here! Hearing about no changes might not necessarily mean they're not happening! Hopes are up

Yep, better than doing a St Kilda/Essendon/etc and publicly announcing shit, just to have it blow up in your face.

They want us interested enough to buy membership and merch

Not interested enough to question how things are run .

As a die hard fan I have found myself caring less about this club due to all their poor decisions, lack of accountability and actually seem to be taking an interest in a couple of other clubs my friends support.

Don't get me wrong I'll always be a west coast supporter but going to games or watching games live seems less of a priority.

Thoughts on Connor Blakely?

Rookies, DFA, third rounders, fourth rounders all meh.

Most fail, the ones that hit 100 games like Jackson Nelson or win Brownlows like Pridda become the ultimate whipping boys.

What a world we live in.

2m Peter was traded in with a 3rd rounder.

Would you do that or instead close your eyes and throw a dart at the rookie draft dart board?

James Rowe was an unlucky delisting as the Crows simply needed list spots and traded in Rankin.

Narkle has justbeen delisted from the premiers withmassive depth. Has had several minor ankle injuries over several years that simply derailed his season.

We are not looking to grab the next Bontempelli with thesepick ups. We are aiming to improve the bottom 6 players on the list with players who have shown they are capable but have been a tad unlucky.
