Thanks to juicebox here, Ryan Daniels has confirmed Witherden is contracted for 2023 courtesy of an extension (not announced by the club that I know of) “at some stage early”

With Hurn still expected to sign on our main list is 34 plus 1 rookie spot.

No announcement on the futures of West, Trew or Winder as yet

I read the "mate" as in "stop asking me questions......MATE"

FEK, if witherden is contracted for another year, is their any point in retaining hurn?

So, we've got Withileaks for another season.

Do we spend the off season teaching him to defend and back him in with his current role?

OR...does he move up the ground...and if so, where could he even go with the traits that he does/doesn't possess?
Unless he is playing inside mid he is too slow to play anywhere else .

What a waste of a list spot .

I would much rather winder got another year

Yeah I don't think he has an inside midfielder's bone in his body. No idea about his tank but I'm guessing it's not wing spec, plus we likely have those roles tied up. We have just recruited an attacking halfback in Hunt, we have JJ doing his apprenticeship in that same role although it remains to be seen whether or not he stays there. We have Hurn going around another year who can take kick ins...I have no idea where he slots in, other than the WAFL.

The only conclusion I can come to, is that once again the team has shot itself in the foot by extending contracts for these types of players just a bit too long. Thinking perhaps if he signed to end of 2023 "early on", since then he has fallen out of favour and been replaced with JJ.

We now need to play him exclusively in the WAFL and keep as depth, or reinvent him....Is he capable of pulling off risky switches into the corridor perhaps? I have no idea who he keeps out of the side.

BOND 007 any insights mate?

Good tracker...

Callum Jamieson, Greg Clark, Jack Petruccelle, Jake Waterman, Jamaine Jones, Luke Foley, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Xavier O'Neill & Zac Langdon

2023 is Make or break for this group. Shuey and Cripps probably retire, that could be a lot of list spots open.

Gee. Settle down.

Why is he being cut from a well below average list, out of interest? I will admit I don’t follow the Crowbots too closely.

I understand they have Rachele and now Rankine, but if he was a reasonable prospect you’d think they’d have kept him.

Rowe is not very good, he’s a good pressure player but his skills are beyond poor, I wouldn’t bother giving him a call

Jones & Jamieson have extended until 2024, I believe.

He was cut because they needed to free up 4 list spots. 1 for Rankin and 3 for the draft per AFL rules.

Other players didn't get traded and only a few were OOC.

Good players get cut some times due to circumstances other than they arent good enough.

Just like players who arent good enough somehow survive because they have a contract.

Its just lazy to bundle every delisted player into being the same as Langdon.

You can lol all you like, it just shows you dont have much to add.

I'm making the comparison with Langdon because when he traded him in, he averaged under a goal a game.

Not really AFL standard that stat. Rowe seems to be producing the same numbers as a forward. I don't see how it is an unfair comparison.

If he's a good player, do Adelaide have the option to re-rookie him? If so, will they?

Here's Mofra's thoughts on old mate Rowe
Player #49 - James Rowe

img.jpg

Pictured: James Rowe is a surprisingly common name, thank you Google images

Nickname: According to the Crows website, 'Jimmy' or 'Rowie'. What a bunch of boring twats.

James Rowe is a small forward who plays for Adelaide, who are throwing all their money at a small forward this trade period which shows you the regard in which he's held by the Crows list management team. After taking a small forward with their first-round pick last year.
Drafted from the SANFL, Jimmy's dad played in the first Crows team which was so long ago they still used canvas tents when they attended their pre-season torture camps.

Managing 17 games this year for the 5th last placed team, Rowe kicked 12 goals (never more than two) and averaged 1 and a half tackles per game. The main issues with Rowe are height (or lack thereof) and speed. If you're going to be a shortarse at AFL level you need to be quick (Rowe isn't) or have outstanding endurance (Rowe doesn't). He isn't exactly a pressure player either which is a prerequisite for being a small forward at AFL level these days. He can't jump either which, for a guy at 173cm, means he's about chest height of most of his opponents (and for Dusty, strippers).

Adelaide apparently bid on Jamarra Ugle-Hagen with their first pick in 2020 so that the Bulldogs would use extra points to match, which meant the Crows could use their second-round draft pick on Rowe (lulz). The decision cost Riley Thilthorpe $10k as he missed out on the no 1 draft pick bonus, but I thought it was a wonderful gesture to give Collective Minds a go at running their draft that year.

Rowe's a delist candidate at the end of this year, which means some stupid club will probably trade him in and [checks the Draft & Trading board] um... er.... will get a bargain if they can turn him around :$

Fun fact: Jimmy is quite the romantic despite his lack of height. He regularly provides a tea-light candle lit dinner and later goes up on his girlfriend.

Jimmy, good luck next year whichever club you end up at. Welcome to the Bottom 50 for 2022.

he doesn’t possess any skills that are required in todays football and hence why brisbane happily offloaded him to us. Pace and tackling ability and pressure is a must in the modern game.
