Well that throws a spanner in the works for us if we were planing on trading pick 2 for multiple later rnd one picks.

North now wanting to do the same for pick 1.

Unlike North we haven't yet come out and said that we would though. Just rumours on our end.

There are more than one player clubs are chasing.

It would be better if they didnt but clubs will still enquire about pick 2 IMO.

This is the sad sack crybaby this board wanted?

* me.
I have only watched the draft since 2015.

In that time, I’ve seen two kids cry because they were sad about where they were drafted.

Bruhn when he was drafted interstate.

And Paddy Dow when he was drafted by Carlton (he really, really wanted to be drafted to North). At least Dow still managed to force a smile on stage.

Is it a stretch that any of our forwards would do better playing with atop 4 midfield kicking it to them?

Everyone accepts our midfield has been an issue for years. So why wouldnt they be better with a quality midfield feeding them? Its pretty obvious.

And 2 years for Nic is strange. Especially when he has admitted he wont move interstste and will play as long as the club keeps offering him a contract. The only way it makes sense is he gets less per year plus there is a cheap payout clauseif he gets injured and needs to retire.

Ill accept a darling, cripps, ryan possibly rioli would be better in a top 4 side but they actually have something going for them called talent…
Something a waterman has little of and he wouldn’t get a gig in a top 4 side.

Word on the street his missus wants out of Perth, hopefully he goes where we can get the most out of a trade but realistically speaking he's not worth much, sitting two years out of footy, was (imo) average this season and is 27.
Junior is not worth very much!!! How come then that 4 clubs appear to be interested (Richmond, Norf, Port and Essendon).

Realistically, if Norf get a priority pick at end of R1, it would be a good piece of business all around for them to trade it. They have enough young smalls and need some talent. We are really looking to rebuild and picks are key.

If Rioli (or his missus) want to be around friends or family, he wins plus he likely gets a better salary.

At least it’s now September so there’s only about a month more of this rumour and speculation without anything actually happening,

And hopefully finals will distract us as we laugh at the teams getting knocked out before booing both campaigner teams that make the Grand Final and the VFL wankfest that will happen with the game being at the MCG after an eternity of being played in other states.

So NicNat signed for 2 years and we have posters upset.

There appears to be a 2 year deal butthere are loads we do not know
We do not know if there are triggers for the second year.
We do not know how much and whether the ambassador money is still be paid.
Whether Bailey is going to be retained, delisted or shopped come October

What we do know is
Neither my boy Bailey nor Jamieson are ready for the top ruck mantle
There are a couple of later ruck options this year and some very good options next year but they will take time
We tried to get Sweet last year and failed
We have an academy with his name and he is likely to be around the club for a very long time
NicNat is our figure head to attracting and developing NGA talent - there is a growing number of players from an African birthplace that are starting to be playing some decent football at junior levels

Assumption is we don’t but nobody would know for sure.

Nisbett said in that Ryan Daniel puff interview that our cap is fine and we could afford Luke Jackson for example. It was an answer that went unchallenged

I’ve always held the opinion that it’s a dumb idea for clubs to advertise they’ve got a war chest as it signals to player managers there’s room to chase bigger contracts

You don’t start bartering with someone by showing them how much money you have to spend - they’ll ask for all of it
If we dont have a war chest now in 2 years time we should be flush

I would be disappointed if he leaves but it won't be the end of the world. As you said, he won't be around for our next premiership push and surely we have a young talented small forward hidden away on our NGA we can pick up for cheap and put some time into

His name is Tyrell Dewar, not really hidden though since he received a national combine invite

How nice would it be hearing Nicnat come back in career best shape, because he's signed on for 2 years during a "rebuild" phase and the club is backing him in to get his body right so he wants to get the most out of his career and for the club, come back and shave some seconds off his PB and really show some intent with his fitness for 2023....

Only if a 13 year history is anything to go by, we know that isn't remotely going to happen.

I can't fathom how multiple elite athlete from 1 team have been quite a bit below 100% fitness. Particularly in a flag window. I have my doubts about NicNat slimming down in the off season. If we again have multiple players who aren't fit - Simmo needs to be sacked.
