Hewett is a top 10 talent who has had some issues this year. Mind you if he was playing WAFL colts all season he would have been absolutely dominant.

Didn't interview great at the combine and is definitely down on fitness/application this year imo. He gets marked down by a lot because of his dominance last year yet it didn't seem to translate to the higher level as much as expected.

There are also rumours of outside issues however I have no proof of this and he interviewed well. Did give body impressions and slight reads about wanting to stay in WA when I was in the interview. It's why I think he potentially drops. I don't think GWS draft him and think one of Sydney's picks is locked in for Hustwaite so he could genuinely get past the first round. Sydney really have no fear of player retention mind you. If Sydney take someone other than Hustwaite with their first I think he's safe for our 3rd pick.

Also will say it again but don't rate Ginbey. That athletic profile combined with low production says to me low footy IQ and it's hard to build. He could be a tagger and defensive mid in the middle for a few years and build it, like yeo but it's a big question mark on him for me. Otherwise i'd be happy with him. He's not in my 5 picks for either 8 or 12.

If Busslinger gets past Geelong and Mackenzie is Taken I would go Busslinger, Philippou and then Hewett at 20.
Your comments on Ginbey production dont make a lot of sense his end of season in colts was brilliant and he got heaps of footy
certainly production wasn't a problem for him
He has more improvement in him the more he spends time in the middle

He played 1 game of colts at the end of the season getting 19 possessions.

His highest for league was 14 possessions.

Even at the u18 champs his highest was 21 possessions.

All depends on list spots.

We want to take 4 or 5 picks plus a rookie or DFA.

How we dont have more spots open this year is frustrating.

Players coming out of contract in 2022 that were given a new contract:

Barrass (5 years)
Cole (3 years)
L Edwards (2 years)
H Edwards (2 years)
Jamieson (2 years)
Jones (2 years)
Naitanui (2 years)
B Williams (2 years)
Shuey (1 year)
Hurn (1 year TBA)

* BOND 007 has suggested one of Trew, West or Winder has or will be given a new contract

Those re-signings leave us with 6 spots to fill which I’ll agree is frustrating that we don’t have more, but I’m not sure which of those players shouldn’t have been given a new contract

Perhaps Hurn and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he does a Redden and decide to retire.

As for one of those last three getting a reprieve it should be noted that after our first 4 draft picks our next pick is in the 70’s (realistically it’ll be in the 50’s though) and then we’re in the rookie draft. They’re spot would be filled by pick 20 in the rookie draft

Based on attitude and 2022 "form" it should be West. But who knows.

WA guys are our priority but Phillipou could be in the mix, his personality and family may be a stumbling block though.
GC a real threat for Ginbey at 5 as well.
What’s the issue with his personality and family?

I think today is the day we need to finalise delistings to allow for draft nominations?

It's not really clear but their 'key dates' statement has the following:

Wednesday, October 19 at 5pm AEST

  • Applications to re-list a player close

re-list isn't really referred to in any of the AFL documentation (other than saying if a club delists a player they must select in a draft to re-list). But I'm guessing we have to submit our list with re-contracted players by 5pm eastern today?

We may see some news out of the club regarding the 4 unknowns (West, Winder, Trew, Hurn) and/or some news regarding delisting/s with the plan on selecting contracted players in the RD.

I saw we are interested in Baxter Phillips after he tested well at the state combine. Has anyone seen him play or know much more about him?

The west was suggesting we might pick him up with a late/rookie pick. Would he be a good pickup?

I still find Hurns situation strange. If he hasn't silently re-signed, why has it not been done yet? Surely its a fairly simple contract extension.

First I've heard of personality and family issues?

Unless the "I want to be Pick 1" thing is a glimpse of an unbearable Fyfe-like FIGJAM?

Publicly I can't really say much, just what's come to me but I trust and believe in that source completely.
