Saw Jackson Nelson in the pub the other day, maybe he is hoping for a late recall.

Was he about to head to the hippie club?

You could try addressing the points posters have raised with regards to their concerns about interstate players rather than just lazily saying stop squealing and that's bullshit.
You say “concerns” and ”that’s the reason we traded down” I addressed those “concerns” by saying their bullshit!

Schofield and Nelson stayed
In case this post isn’t tongue in cheek, Nelson has never been wanted by anyone but the Eagles so circumstances dictated that he stay put. He’s been de-listed and still can’t find a home. Schofield was underrated by most, I suspect that he too attracted little interest from rivals.

I think the point is that, if you draft a Geelong Pigeon, and they prove themselves (as good AFL players), then there’s a high likelihood they go home and you get under-compensated and waste development. That point seems pretty valid.

To me, Cadman was a position of need. You cannot expect a KPF to start in year 1. We had 2 other good picks prior to splitting that could have got us decent mids. More the Hotton, Burgiel and D’Aloia level but still decent.

Maybe that is me getting accustomed to the Lord of the Pies going tall early.

The biggest aspect as to why I liked this move was that the options as both 8 and 12 show how even the prospects are from 1 - 15.

Now Busslinger is not a position of need and hence I do not want him unless he is there at 20 (ie no chance)

We have the chance to get 2 top end mids at 8/12 and can afford to mix and match them. The prospect of Phillipou is enticing as he has a higher ceiling and a different skill set. Hewett likewise has some interesting attributes.

So we have Culley and Hough, hopefully Chesser, but yet to be seen, plus a possibility of Hewett and Phillipou to be our starting midfield.

I was keen on my Claremont lad in Allen - pity he is gaining so much attraction. I had hoped we go for him at 26 but might need to go early at 20.

Still great options at 26.
Is he that good? Would you take him over a Sybkowski?

And how many mids do we have?

Shuey should have been out of the midfield 2 years ago and playing minutes at the end of quarters

Yeo is perma injured and will play back next year

Gaff is a potato

Shred is good but slow and cant tackle

We arent short on kp any where near the shortage of mids and have a proven history of picking kp players at later picks

We literally dont have a midfield.
We’ve already drafted Chesser, Culley and Hough as well. Again, if Busslinger is the best talent available at 9, you take the best talent, 12 and 20 still get us two good mids to make 5 in the past 12 months. And we’ll get another crack at top talent next year. Why reach for potentially less talented mids this year, then perhaps be forced to reach for less talented talls next year because now it’s an urgent need?

Your comments on Ginbey production dont make a lot of sense his end of season in colts was brilliant and he got heaps of footy
certainly production wasn't a problem for him
He has more improvement in him the more he spends time in the middle
I’m probably with Phil and ok with Ginbey but would be ok if Suns take him. It could be that I’ve not seen him live a much but he is more a defensive mid from what I’ve seen on tv.

Any 2 of McKenzie Phillipou and Hewett are my first choice.

When the best you can come up with is bullshit in response, it's basically saying you can't put together a coherent argument. Using curse words to respond to people is quite low intellect and a weak way to respond.

One flag doesn't make a dynasty. I expect Geelong to fall back into the pack next year. They can kid themselves all they want, but when those veterans hit the wall (Danger, Hawkins etc), they will fall off a cliff.
Since 2007, in 16 years, Geelong have...

4 x Premierships
4 x minor Premierships
Finished top4 - 13 times
Made finals - 15 times
Failed to make finals - once.

That looks pretty bloody dynastic to me.

Those were different teams though. The core of 06-11 was very different to the core of 2022.

You could make a similar list for us from 92-06, but I wouldn't call it a dynasty.

If you go from 1991-2006 (15 years, same as Cats)

3 x Premierships
3 x Minor Premierships
5 x Grand Finals
Top 4 - Minimum 5 but different finals system in 90s so not sure how relevant of a comparison this is (+ dodgey MCG finals rule)
Failed to make finals - twice

Pretty comparable really

2007 - 2011 was the dynasty.

2007 - 2022 is a very well run football club who know how to play the game AND also know how to 'play the game'.

Need to get Stack & Narkle with later picks or PSD. Need some flare & speed in the side.

Phillipou, Ginbey, Hewett, + Stack & Narkle would be a great haul 4 WA & our 1 traditional Croweater.
Still think there is a delistee or 2 and maybe retiree another yet.

Think we need another gone especially if we have so many Veterans leaving next season.

Could sign either or both as DFAs if we decided we wanted them, no need to use the draft
