I wouldn't think too much of players not invited to indicate they won't be taken first round, the cost of flights from WA wouldn't be that cheap.

No they are not, he was expelled for grabbing a girl who spilled water on him.

He does suffer from overconfidence which in itself is not a bad thing and something I think a preseason with some veterans would quickly put an end to. The kid is a top 10 talent that may go un-drafted, it's not a Darling like situation.

Could be a great player or wasted talent.
So a girl assaulted him by pouring a drink on him (presumably to provoke him) and he grabbed her? Didn’t hit her, just grabbed her? And he was 16 years old? And he got expelled for that? How woke of Guildford Grammar…

If that’s all there is, then there’s no real problem with him at all.

Interesting that from my comment you've created the scenario that the girl was to blame.

Rumours of Poo to Essendon and Gilbey to GC.
Some suggestions that Geelong into Tsatas and Hawks have a boner for McKenzie.

That leaves Buss, Clark, Humphrey, Hollands, Jefferson, Allan and Hewett for our two picks.

Humphrey would be my pick at 8 hands down, with likely Allan or Hewett available at 12 (predicting next 3 would be Clark, Busslinger & Hollands).

Serious go-home behaviour. Would he be able to leave his house each day?

But also, is he qualified?
Wikipedia tells me he was studying Physiotherapy when he was drafted, no idea if finished, and as of 2020 was studying applied management.

There's probably enough there to lead and manage a health team, relying on the expert technical people to develop the plans and overlay his knowledge and experience over the top of it. Managers rarely have to go into the strict technical side of things they just need to know enough.

I don’t know what his qualifications are, but :

1) He is an absolute quality individual and you can’t have enough people like that at a footy club
2) He knows what success looks like
3) Geelong just won a flag in part because they were able to successfully manage their senior players so that they were fit in September. An inability to do that in previous years hurt them. Taylor reportedly played a key role in that this year

He might not be interested and maybe prefers to sink tinnies with JK in Gero, but if we haven’t or don’t ask the question it’s a failing of management
Also, forgot to put in this bit as well to the above

4) Geelong, with Sydney, are the best managed clubs in the league by some margin and have been for a long time. If they saw fit to have Taylor in that role at their club, there should be no doubt he’d be capable of it at ours

I've plenty of evidence. I just choose not to be the a-hole who want to ruin careers for doing what half of his peers are doing. Get in the real world mate, they're all on it

On Pixel 6 Pro using BigFooty.com mobile app

Evidence != Anecdotes, just as sliding down the draft order for being a tool != ruined career.

What percentage of players with perceived character issues go on to become good AFL players with no issues?

Bear in mind that players with no perceived issues going on to become tools is an unrelated field of study and has no bearing on the original topic. Unless you can show it's the same percentage or a higher percentage.

Undrafted?

Campaigner please. He won’t get past the teens

How do you know he wasn't the victim here? Schools generally punish those who retaliate far harsher than those who instigate.

Not absolving any guilt from him but it's entirely possible she was completely to blame for starting the supposed altercation and he took it too far.

Ok sure.

Weird hill etc.

Hewitt has all the tools to be a very good footballer and some knocks which includes a school issue, I'm all for kids being able to mature and be better people.

Merely posted what I was told to attempt to put to bed the speculation.

Weird hill etc.
Is it?

Personally I couldn't give 2 shits if this one incident is his supposed 'questionable' character. Kids do dumb shit in school.

If he's on drugs/sexually assaulting girls on a regular basis then that's an entirely different story altogether.

Character can't be that questionable if he was chosen to be WA state captain.

If the opening 8 picks goes like the below:

1 Ashcroft – Bris* (top 4 settled)
2 Cadman – GWS*
3 Wardlaw – Nth
4 Sheezel – Nth
5 Phillopou – Ess (sound keen on young Phil)
6 Ginbey – GC (traveled to Dunsborough to see him)
7 Tsatas – Haw
8 Clark – Gee (Geelong could go Humphrey here)

Then we are going to get any two of these kids at picks 9 and 13

Balanced Mids - McKenzie, Hollands

Athletic Mids - Humphrey, Hewett, Allan

Talls - Busslinger or Jefferson

I feel like Hollands and Hewett is a great mix here, both have great running capacity, grunt and decent-ish size. Would be happy with McKenzie at 9 as well. Would not be happy with Allan, only because he is a bit more of an unknown. Talls not a need in the here and now and can be addressed later in draft this year or next.

We are going to get any one of these kids at our 3rd pick
Talls – Barnett

HB – Cowan

MID - Burgiel

Fwd – Konstanty, Clarke, Hotton, George

Looking around this mark mid sized fwds seem to be where the gold is, and crucially addresses a need for us. Some x factor is needed in our future forward line. Can't point to any one but Allen and Ryan at the moment. A FF line of George - Allen - Ryan in three years time sounds alright to me.

We are going to get any one of these kids at our 4th pick
HB –
K Ryan, K Smith, Gilbey

Tall – Keeler, Gruzewski

Fwd – Jones, Clarke

Mid – Burgiel, Hustwaite

Didn't grab Cowan because of the plentiful HB around this pick. I've gone for Kaleb Smith because of the athleticism off half back, we've addressed that with for now with J.Hunt - Kaleb prepares us for the future. I don't take Jones, Clarke or Burgiel as we've grabbed mids and George earlier, and have Baker/Dewar coming in thru NGA. I leave Keeler for whats available later.

We could potentially nab with our 5th pick
Talls – Lemmey, Scully, Broadbent, Davies

Feel like there are a lot of quality talls who could be anything at the back end of the draft. I've chosen Lemmey as the highest ceiling guy from the mix in my opinion. If we don't take a tall in this draft I also feel like there are a lot of WA talls out there that WCE could make a play for like Van Rooyen (Would LOVE Van Rooyen at West Coast) or McDonald in the future.

So picks are:
AFL draft:
MID Hollands - MID Hewett - FWD George - DEF K Smith - FWD Lemmey

NGA:
FWD Dewar - MID Baker

Pre-Season draft:
RUCK Broadbent if available??

I'd be stoked with that group in particular but multiple combinations of the names listed above would be considered a good draft year. I think that is the major take away.
