Is it?

Personally I couldn't give 2 shits if this one incident is his supposed 'questionable' character. Kids do dumb s**t in school.

If he's on drugs/sexually assaulting girls on a regular basis then that's an entirely different story altogether.

Character can't be that questionable if he was chosen to be WA state captain.

I'm merely pointing out that jumping to the defence of athletically gifted young men is a tad redundant because there's so many people willing to dive in front of that bullet for them. Unless you have a hell of a leap five dudes will beat you to it.

Interesting that from my comment you've created the scenario that the girl was to blame.
Did she pour a drink on him before he grabbed her? If so, it certainly seems she is to blame unless there are some other significant factors you’re not disclosing.

If you think it’s perfectly fine to pour drinks on people, maybe try it at the local pub and see how you go.

Yeah girls always bully the star footballer at school…. Someone think of the poor star footballer!

Well, considering there's been cases of high school & college footballers (albeit in the USA) having their lives ruined/committing suicide due to false rape allegations from girls simply because they 'didnt't like them', it's not so far-fetched.

I also never said he wasn't guilty of anything. He may very well be. I have NFI.

More people will instantly jump to a girl defence at the first accusation. You only need to look at the support Amber Heard initially received before being proven a liar, as well as numerous #metoo people, one a founder, who ended up being the actual abusers and not victims.

But anyway, this isnt really the forum for this discussion and, like I preciously said, I don't know whether Elijah is or isn't guilty of anything to begin with.

What if I come in peace and do it?

My information comes from a coach in the WA system not reddit.

He’s got two major issues, one you have highlighted partially.

He hopefully grows out of it and matures into a fine young man, like Darling (for the most part) for example.

Based on his talent, I’d like us to give him a go, but some clubs won’t touch him.

I wish him only success.

The more you read the more I can see us not taking Hewett.

Feel people best be ready for that out come on draft night.

If the Dons take Phillipou and the Suns take Ginbey, the draft gets A LOT more interesting

My dream has always been for Phillipou or Humphries to slip through, I never imagined Tsatas would potentially be available to us, I don’t think you could pass on him at 8 if he was there

If Hawks / Cats take 2 of those guys I just mentioned, we’d still potentially have Clark / McKenzie on the board too

Really hope we are saved from ourselves and Ginbey goes elsewhere

I don’t like being negative and I understand I post a fair bit about how much I do not rate Ginbey, but I have watched a lot of him and feel very strongly about not wanting him at 8

I am surprised that you are so high on Humphrey as he really has a shit kick on him, I guess I am to Humphrey as you are to Ginbey.

Hard to see him being a top quality midfielder when his disposal by foot into the forward line is substandard, I think he will be a turnover merchant, love his grunt work in close and his hustle and bustle ....... but he is going to frustrate with he regular set shots at goals that miss and his passes that don't hit targets.

Hewitt has all the tools to be a very good footballer and some knocks which includes a school issue, I'm all for kids being able to mature and be better people.

Merely posted what I was told to attempt to put to bed the speculation.
Also speaks better than the vast majority of our senior players at eighteen years of age.

I just don't get why we'd draft someone who played the bulk of their junior career as a defender hoping he'll magically transform into a midfielder at the next level.

Surely it's more common for a junior midfielder to struggle at the elite level and get thrown back (or forward) than for someone who has never (or hardly) played in the midfield suddenly turning into a decent midfielder?

Sack Yeo.

Oh I agree his kicking is a concern, but I think that’s actually fixable. It’s also mainly his set shot that’s dodgy, his field kicking isn’t as bad

I like Humphreys versatility and he would offer a point of difference for us imo

I see him as a slightly more dynamic SPP without as much midfield experience as a junior. Do not want.

This is pretty much my view as well, his productivity was not great and that’s with him being more physically advanced than most of his peers are currently

I don’t think he has many stand out attributes and I don’t want a midfield full of fairly limited players, we have Culley as that inside type already, I’d like to add some more balance and genuine versatility in that area of the ground

Or somebody cough "Mackenzie" cough who actually made the full transition to midfielder. No doubt he benefited circumstantially due to Wardlaw and Tsatas missing all but one game between them but he was a legitimate first string midfielder in the best U18 team this year (and arguably the most impactful mid as well).

Hustwaite may never make it as a mid. He may also not make it in defence. I like him as a player but isn't outstanding in any area really (other than clean hands in tight) and isn't overly athletic or agile. Average kicking.

Allan to me is very low chance of being a true inside mid at AFL level and with current contested possession and lack of results is a high level of being a bust IMO as well. Weak body on body.

Ginbey again, low production, back first before becoming a mid. Less chance of being a bust but may just become a hard line enforcer down back. Don't like his kicking.

So yeah we'd have an incredibly tall midfield with 2 key components being slow and lacking agility and a guy who is known for shirking a contest but brilliantly quick but not so much in games.

Who shirks contests but brilliantly quick? Petro?

Allan?

Ginbey isn't slow and goes hard.
