SEN phantom has Clark to Hawks, Tsatas going to Geelong at 8, us taking Ginbey at 9 then Stk with Mackenzie, Hollands 11 to Blues.
Hewett goes to dogs at 12 and we get Busslinger at 13

It’s one of the few combinations I’d be slightly disappointed with. Both Ginbey and Busslinger on their own aren’t bad picks but I’m not so sure as a combo.

After listening to the GC recruiting manager on trade radio, sounded almost certain they will take Ginbey at 5. He didnt say it directly but they just flew over and drove to Dunsborough at such a key time (sounded like a final box tick to me) and emphasised how much they are looking for intensity and competiveness (basically describing Ginbey). They discussed all the likely options and he definitely spoke most glowingly of Ginbey imo.

Also found ROB's description of our second pick interesting. He basically said it will be a mid at 8 but then softened alot on 12 and was "we will see whats available". Subtext for me was that a tall is very much in the mix there (consistent with the Jefferson rumours).

I’d be happy with that tbh. If GC take Ginbey then hopefully we get one of Clark, Tsatas or Mackenzie. Whichever one is left. If we get one of these 3 then I’d be less concerned about us taking a tall at 13.

Excellent. Essendon taking Phillipou/Humphrey, Gold Coast taking Ginbey and Geelong taking Clark means that two of Mackenzie, Tsatas or Phillipou/Humphrey will be available at pick 9. Basically a best case scenario for us.

Great minds.

Allan to me is very low chance of being a true inside mid at AFL level and with current contested possession and lack of results is a high level of being a bust IMO as well. Weak body on body.

Ginbey again, low production, back first before becoming a mid. Less chance of being a bust but may just become a hard line enforcer down back. Don't like his kicking.

So yeah we'd have an incredibly tall midfield with 2 key components being slow and lacking agility and a guy who is known for shirking a contest but brilliantly quick but not so much in games.

It's hard to see Allan being a bust. He's 194cm dual sided runner with elite hands. It's more than possible he doesn't make the transition to playing on the ball at AFL level, given his height he doesn't need to be an inside midfielder to succeed.

Rangey kid who is weak body on body, until he grows into it and bullies the 5'11 mids going in the top three picks?

See few issues with Ginbey making it as an inside midfielder. A natural clearance game is there, transition work and accumulation isn't there at the moment.

Allen is 194cm. ROB is speaking in code.

None of this matters, because in the meantime, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in north Queensland. 🐊
Given that there's now approximately 200,000 salties based in northern Australia it's probably going to continue being an issue with increased crocodile and human interactions.

ROB interview, not much givrn away obviously but worth a listen

Main takeaways for me
• Likely taking a mid at 8 which rules out Busslinger with our first pick
• Not planning on any pick swaps but remain open minded if something beneficial like last year materialises
• Will decide on the night whether to use our 5th pick but expect to fill all 7 list spots via main and rookie drafts
• Both Dewar and Baker are NGA options and will be rookie listed if available

Ginbey’s output was higher than Hewett. Clearly the best mids this year are Victorian. There were melts when we picked A Vic with pick 1 last year, going to be interesting. 2 mids and key position player with our top 3 is my tip
Ginbey was solid in all 3 champs games without being spectacular.

Hewett absolutely ripped the game apart vs vic metro and the best opposition midfield. Best game of any WA mid at the champs by a mile .

Next game he didn't even get a run on ball .

Recon he was told to cool his jets .

Hewett at 13 is a no brainer . He is a genuine mid who can complete with and beat the best mids in this draft .

9 phillipou 13 Hewett.

Midfield is set with 2 explosive mids who can win their own ball and go forward and kick goals

I'm actually surprised more people don't get chomped/drowned by the salties in Broome tbh.

Those bad boys frequent cable Beach more than Rohan Obrien dyes his hairpiece.

But anyway, Tsatas/Mckenzie/ Humphrey..... ooooft
More danger of being chomped/drowned by salties in here about 6pm on Monday.

Tsatas is no chance of being taken at our pick. Same reason Gold Coast won't look at him. Vic Metro kid that screams flight risk. Also why he's only ever mentioned with regards to Vic clubs.

THANK YOU!

People implying Ginbey is some amazing midfield talent when his production was very meh is hilarious, especially when you factor in how physically advanced he is to most of the guys he was playing against. I really do not want Ginbey at 8, I hope Gold Coast take him
Ginners mk2 does have that ability to break tackles and burst away from packs. Only a couple of blokes each year have that power and if a club reckons he can still improve again that's a Judd/Danger/Dusty. More likely a better Powell-Pepper IMO

Some kent said Smith was being looked at by a club in the 30's.

Then there's Cockburn with 800 picks before our 5th Selection as well.

We either trade down pick 26, or we reach for him with that selection. Either way, I don't see it happening, which is a shame. Exciting player.

Pick 43 would've been handy amirite.

So Jhye Clark is back in flavour?

A couple of weeks ago, a couple of posters had alot of negatives on him. The early reports is he is the best option for a guaranteed 200 game player.

I have no idea but i get the feeling if we get one of; Poo, Clark Mackenzie = good, Ginbey = Bad

Surely the slider, so called one dimensional players don't excite recruiters enough.

Clark would be great but we’ll have to deal with the slimey cats sniffing around every year and if he ever leaves we’ll probably end up sending Clark and Pieman’s unborn grandkid for a third rounder to them after they run some media campaign that we ruined clark’s life by drafting across the country

I have always loved Clark, I wasn’t very keen on him when there were reports we were talking to him when we had 2 though as I preferred a couple other guys, but at 8 he’d be great value.

Phillipou or Humphries is still my dream though, but looks like they’ll both be gone

I'll give you a little bit of info. Clark doesn't particularly like the cats. Not to say that means they won't draft him but we'll see.

I think people are right to be cautious with Geelong boys, but if what you say is true and Geelong overlook him in this draft, I’d feel a lot more confident about retaining him long term. He seems like a very loyal heart and soul type of guy too.
