What I’d like to see

Mackenzie with our 1st pick

Hope that Ginbey slides to our 2nd as I like his big body and aggression. If he’s not there then Allan

Hewett with our 3rd, even if it means combining Ports F2 with 20 to move into one of the NSW picks or maybe Collingwood might be interested

If that happens I really don’t care who we get with our 4th pick. Potentially look at trading down from 26 into the 30’s if we’re keen on Smith and won’t to get a future pick back to replace the F2 from port if we traded it

I can't see Hewett sliding like all the talk says he will.

Don't like giving up port F2 in next yrs draft.

Just hand over 20 and 26 for Swans 14.

The difference bw 26 and ports F2 might be 4 -8 slots lower but in a way stronger draft. It will have a higher trade value at the end of next year when clubs come clamoring to get into that draft, particularly when the Tassie team date is locked in.

Then use pick 71 for what will likely be pick 55 on a smokey or slider.

Honestly think Allen has more potential to slide to 20 then Hewett does

On ability and exposed form I think you are right.

But I'd hazard a guess that GWS and Sydney (and reports GWS especially) are all over him. Beneficial skillset and they both have a lot of inside mids in young-ish brackets - so they can afford to take a risk that he ends up a tall speedster on the outside (which seems more likely than ending up an inside or balanced mid).

Hewett seems to be sliding in a lot of the media phantoms. There must be something there around attitude or behavior - and if we can get him at our pick 20 then it would be a steal.

Lamb. Over excitement for an athlete with little footy nowse. I was guilty of it then, not this time. Take him only if he slides to our 3rd pick.

Allen's colts stats coming off a long term injury with no 2021 Colts form says he finds the ball easily.

Lamb was a high jumping forward who didn't like body contact. Strange comparison.

I’m not religious but currently praying that all the ginbey and Allan talk is to drive their value up and make teams reach to take them before us so that actual good players slide to our picks.
If clubs are scrambling to do pick swaps to get these guys, perhaps they're good players?

If we passed in Hewett with our first two selections and another team picked him up and he fulfilled his potential, we would be kicking ourselves.

At the start of the year our recruiters would have been thinking we have this gun Hewett who is everything we need in a mid but he is going to go before our first pick .

We now have the luxury of picking up another top 10 pick and Hewett at 12 .

I'm hoping ginbey is gone and we pick makenzie or phillipou to go with Hewett at 12 .

8 makenzie/ Phillapou
12 Hewett
20 Clarke
26 Smith

Trade for GC pick 45 with ports Future 3rd and take a punt on Lemmey.

Give Lemmey time to get himself sorted splitting time next year between WA and SA before moving over permanently next off season

I'll put my chips on the table.

Pick 9 Preference Mackenzie after being talked around on his inside game. Ginbey as the second option here and whoever else slides would be a good third option, perhaps Clark given his size/ build. A

Pick 13 I'd take Allan. Massive upside, can find the pill and if he's not a midfielder he's a wingman or a flanker with a huge tank. If he keeps on growing he's a KPP. Don't want Buss or Jeff, but could see the later taken if Allan is off the table.

Pick 23 Hewett if he slides here would be huge win for the rebuild. If not Hewett then one of Clarke or Jones.

Pick 29 dream scenario Jones is available. If we land a tall at pick 13 and don't take Hewett then Szybkowski is hopefully available here.

Think your dead right regarding the risk part of your post.
Our best draft hand in over a decade, we can’t afford to risk any picks with the state of our list

Disturbing lack of boats. Not sure if I’m right or wishful thinking but think that’s pieman with phillipou, Jefferson and hewett shaking hands. Done deal For our first three picks I think.View attachment 1562506
If the parade hasn’t started maybe go and check out the longest kick across the Yarra, heckle Dunstal and Dustpan Fletcher and then check out the half time sprint….. that Josh Rotham guy has wheels.

Had a nightmare last night...... I dreamt the flowing:

Its Christmas morning and I have been dreaming all month of a brand new shiny bike, I asked father Christmas for it , even text messaged him to reinforce the wish ..... couldn't sleep last night imagining my new bike.... wonder what colour it is ... red/blue/black/silver ?????????

I bound into the lounge room and my heart sank as I look at my chair will all my pressies on it ...... and I see ..... an olive green scooter.

Tears start to run down my cheeks and I try to hide my disappointment once again.

To make things worse, I then look out the window and I see the kent next door riding about on his brand new shiny purple mountain bike.

I woke up and have been glum all morning ........... surly that wasn't a bad omen.

Have been singing the Kevin Bloody Wilson song ever since I woke up: Santa Claus you F*** C***... feel free to join in if you know the words.

I feel like people think clubs give one iota about combine results. The only thing they use it for is to confirm or question what they've seen in games, or in a character sense when players push themselves to get PBs or improve from preseason numbers. The most likely reason clubs get keen or cold on players over the combine is in interviews. The idea that Allan shot up club rankings because he tested well is silly.

Yet ............ thats exactly what his manager said happened.

Surprised people are still against Ginbey at our first, we're clearly not the only club that are considering him in the first round.

Other clubs aren't in as dire straights with their midfield as we are. They can afford to take the risk on a defender makeshift midfielder like Ginbey and it could very well pay off.

The lack of fandom re Ginbey is because we need a top end midfielder more than ever, particularly given we never get high draft picks and even more so for the fact we just traded pick 2 away.

If Ginbey is selected by us and is a midfield bust, it'd be huuuuge in setting us back. We're desperate and can't risk it. Likewise Allen at 12 over Hewett IMO.

But who even cares, we'll fold by 7pm and my club merch will be on Facebook Marketplace by 7.03pm.

I'm actually looking forward to the 24 hour meltathon where we don't take Hewett and he isn't taken in round 1, as we imagine every man and his dog trying to trade up to GWS pick 19 to get him the following day.

The sequel will be when he doesn't get taken first pick day 2 and we don't take him at 20.

Can you imagine it?

It's the closest thing to Johnson last year.

First he's still on the board at our pick... yay Johnson is ours!

Then Rohan trades our pick to Port and we melt

Then it gets to our pick again and we cheer we're getting Johnson and Rohan is a genius

Then he selects Chesser instead and we melt.

Then Johnson is still on the board at the end of day 1 so we should trade for him.

Then Cockburn selects Johnson to kick off day 2 and walk away with the holy wa trinity of Erasmus, Amiss and Johnson...... and we melt.

You have to admit that was amazing to live through.

There’s not a lot of new information here but this bit in relation to West Coast I found amusing given most of the posting here of late

Worst-case scenario: Ginbey, who’s been seen as the Eagles’ No. 1 draft priority for months, is snapped up before West Coast’s opening selection then the Demons trade ahead of the Eagles to pinch Allan.

Please God I hope that Fox Sport's worst case scenario happens...
