If Phillipou was there at our 8, would we accept Melbourne’s offer of 2 x F1 plus 14 for the Phillipou pick plus 26? I am a yes.

Given how hard Melbourne want Phillipou, I think the Cats would tap out earlier.

It would leave us
2022 - 12 13 20
2023 - 3 x R1, 2x R2 2 x R3

I’d happily sell off to Sydney the Melbourne F1 for 14 or GWS for 15

Try to buy Blues pick 10

Going to be hilarious if they get more for 4 than what we got for 2

I have made peace with trading that pick, but I think I’ll melt if we did that trade just to take Ginbey and Allan
Not from the Dogs they won't. Their best offer is their first round selection this year and another next year (likely to be around pick 10).

I’d just take Phillipou personally.

They could include 21 as well and considering that next years draft will likely be better and they are trading for pick 4, not pick 2, the Dons are doing better in that deal than we did.

I think the Dogs future 1st could be anywhere from 7-14 though.

It's not that much better. And if you consider that the top end of this draft has talented Victorians who don't want to leave - then a vic team trading with a vic team should expect a decent premium for a high pick (not fair, I know, but our reality is that teams know/knew we were unlikely to take a handful of the high rated players so our pick value suffered because of it)

I thought it was interesting that he said that since the season ended there hasn't been a lot of change in their thinking other than getting information through medicals etc.

Perhaps all the combine hype is just that and ROB and team have known what they wanted a fair way out.

Or we had the inside word on some athletic profiles of players who have now shot up draft boards due to the combine. May have had a couple circled for cheapish picks that now command a premium

Ginbey said “my dream would be to play for Fremantle”

Please keep this dude away from the club, imagine saying that when he knows there’s no chance he gets to Fremantle

Bring me someone with the minerals

Wardlaw openly gagging for Essendon. Sheezel loves Hawthorn, Clark Collingwood. All not going to happen maybe everyone should just let them slide

If you look at Freo players who fell short of qualifying as father son prospects, Guv worked out pretty well.

Those claiming Allan is soft are fooling themselves. A pairing of Mackenzie and Allan by close of play tonight would be tasty.

The best part of that will be number of times we hear the notion of Ben handing his son the Glendinning-Allan medal in future years.

They just said they support them and it would be cool to go there, with Wardlaw and Sheezel - at least Essendon and Hawthorn actually have a pick in that area

Ginbey saying his dream to play for Fremantle is just weird when he’s likely to be picked up by us and knows he has a zero % chance to get to Fremantle. I’d completely understand if he said he supported Freo and what not, but this was just a weird thing to say on the eve of the draft

The only scenario in which I will ever change football allegiances is if one of my boys is drafted, so it'll be even better if old man Allan is rocking the blue and gold when he hands over the medal.

He said he’d be happy to come to WC and liked the Eagles what a bizarre thing to put a line through him over.

Hopes we don't outsmart ourselves as we oft do by reaching at 8 & 12:
As for our main supposed targets :(

Ginbey - Has the power and breakaway capabilities to be something. However that something is likely to be an upgraded Powell-Pepper rather than Dangerfield.
Jefferson - Will likely be solid for 10 yrs but not a dominant KPP we can build around.
Allan - For all intents and purposes is a worse Blake Acres. 2nd rounder 120 games and you're happy

Mackenzie gets a lot of love - Is a balanced mid sure, but outside leaning. A solid addition but no star. Dare I say may be relegated to a half back flanko_O

Obrien needs bigger glasses.

Late mail coming out of Australia post is that the Eagles have ****ed up the jumpers again. Due to rail delays with the flooding only one jumper has turned up but the plan is that luckily it’s as big as Chessers jumper and they will just stick both players in it.

Why would we rail freight something which would be sub-1kg?

The only possible reach (at this stage, unless there is a massive surprise) for us would be Allan at 9.

All of the other linked names, whilst not necessarily everyone's preference, would be within their draft range and not a reach.

I think I share the concerns with many around here about a Busslinger/Jefferson or Ginbey/Allan combo. It is purely about the mix of players though more than the number attached to their draft position. I would be OK with Ginbey/Jefferson but Busslinger/Allan I would not love.
