While we are circle jerking the club, the media team has put out some good content this draft as well.
Indeed. It's almost like tweeting a few photos isn't really that hard.

WC have never really played cute at the draft. Want a player then draft him at your selection & don't run the risk. Considerable interest in Hewitt in the late teens

Fair enough. I didn't really think we would 'play cute' in that way. I guess Hewett is just an interesting one - case could be made that he's top 5 in the draft on talent, and his range blew out for reasons which might have had to with more than an evaluation of his on-field potential (though it's hard to tell). Guess I'm really wondering where you see him.

Interesting. What do your mates call you ?
I get my fair share - it is a sign of endearment. How given. How received.

Sometimes just Asterix or ATG.

One calls me Asterix the Ugly.

The good news is I don’t need counselling afterwards.

We drafted 2 Vic Country boys, too- Long and Burgiel have played together, which should hopefully mean the transition is a little easier coming over to the West when you’ve got someone in the same shoes.

Quite excited by both Burgiels and Longs highlight video. If fit they should get a go pretty early on in our front half.

Mindful of offending other people, but a few pies were bowled, back when it was ok.
Times move on & SWingnDix directed our draft with The One Eyed Campaigner..glory days

So looking at senior list turnover at the end of '23, the more likely avenues would seem to be:

Retirement:
Hurn - Highly likely
Shuey - Strong chance given his body
Nic Nat - Outside chance given lack of good other options. Contracted for 2 years but if his body is shot they may call it early

Delist potential:
Witherden and Clark would seem the most likely
SPS - A chance if he continues to be on the fringe
L.Edwards - At risk if his body doesn't hold up another year or progress stalls
Rotham and XON not entirely safe but I think Rotham is more trade bait than delist candidate and XON if he shows improvement should be ok
Jamo, B.Williams should be ok given Nic Nat is the only senior ruck and Barnett is obvs not ready
Other fringe players like Waterman and Foley I think are likely to be kept on
J.Williams its too early to tell but you think as a young KPF they give him time unless he completely spuds it up

Rookie players West, Winder and Trew obvs are on the edge

Culley you'd imagine is upgraded from the rookie list at year's end

I would have thought Gaff should be included in that list of retirement possibilities, he looked really shot at the end of last year, being played out of position wouldn’t have helped, but he didn’t look good.

Bit surprised that they tell the players that they're about to pick them (or at least just some of them?).

I bet Adam Simpson when invited to surprise parties waits outside to tell the birthday boy or girl that there's a party waiting for them inside.

Really surprised to see that, kinda takes the magic away from seeing some of the reactions on draft night.
