Before the draft all the attitude 'issues' , had to change schools, blowing vape smoke in the face of a Collingwood recruiter , playing out of his skin vs metro then relegated to the forward pocket , playing wafl seniors in the forward pocket instead of colts midfield and everyone thought he would slide out of the first round and we pounced .

When we split pick 2 Hewett was the target and ginbey was the bonus
Also injected him with covid the flu and HIV.

Technically every midfield has 3-4 guys going at 25+ disposals or whatever. Doesn't mean they are better than the next. Richmonds midfield was actually pretty sucky. I don't think anyone here would want to draft in 2023 and play in a first choice team any of :
Lambert, Mackintosh, Townsend, Graham, Ellis, Edwards, Prestia, Caddy, Baker.
Cotchin was a fine leader but not at all damaging as a midfielder. Then Dusty ofc who lined up at FF more often than not. Was more than the sum of their parts.

There's plenty to choose from. I'd want either a top 5 pick (if warranted) or a bunch of rookie options to dig through.
Cotch, Dusty, Prestia, Bolton, Edwards. That's elite.

Weatherill is an interesting one. I have him outside the top 30 but as you said he is going completely unmentioned. Remember I also have a role and obviously won't be commenting on certain players for specific reasons. I also had Cadman nowhere near pick 1 on talent. Significantly better all round game than Jefferson but his goal kicking was a real turn off for me.

Morris on the other hand I think is going to be a tweener and already being 90kg it's a lot less likely to see growth in the more physically developed guys. Not on my list at all but I can see why he would be by some.

With so much tall talent coming in the dogs have to lose someone. I hope the club is in the ears of Busslinger and his manager and is pushing hard for him to come home next year. Would solve a lot of problems. Been very happy with his progress in the VFL this year.
Really like Weatherill, has stood up in the finals. Has been consistent all year and should be given an opportunity to develop at the higher level. Morris can play but to me looks to have peaked, bit of a man child against juniors. Interested to see if he can develop further when given a chance at AFL level, keen to see how he tests at the combine. If he can run a 6.30 in the 2km I’m tipping he may go close to a first rounder. Being at 191cm he won’t be able to stay deep as he does in the Coates league, will need some serious wheels.

How many more do we need to delist this year?
So far we are at 4 off the main list, and if the Winder delisting ends up confirmed 1 off the Rookie list.
Say we are taking 4-5 picks in the ND and maybe a rookie or 2 (between Draft and Trades)

It would only need to be 2-3 more delistings this year and we might just be waiting till we confirm how many picks we are using, if we have trades coming in etc.

Can't say I've ever seen a club drip feed delistings like this before. Quite bizarre.

So bizarre every single club acts the same way.

For all the same reasons .

Feel free to show where any club has come out and announced all their delistings at once one week after their season is over.

Just one example will do.

I think that's him. He's only 192cm. Wonder if he's going to grow, and wonder if he's good enough to get drafted.
I like Rudd too. Showed great leadership in a tense final on Sunday against the Rebels. Anyone else see the game? Someone will get him as a
late pick up for sure.

I don't mind him as a late punt. He's one of those guys who will be lucky if he gets drafted. Could grow a bit and come good.

We do it every time (drip feed that is). We hear the same conversation on BF year after year so not sure why anyone is surprised in 2023.

Another 3 at least.
Up to 5 in the draft, plus 2 extra spots for trade/FA targets.

Can't see any of our potential discards finding another opportunity at AFL level.
Especially with the likes of Clark, XON, Trew and Winder.
I think we will re-sign them, but maybe only Waterman and maybe SPS.
Probably right mate but we're a club who always looks after their players. Probably just doing due diligence.
Someone like Rotham may interest Adelaide for not much too.

And if you are out if contract I'm sure the player, their manager and the club know exactly where things are at. And yes if the club is letting them go they will try and assist any player getting to another club.

I’m shocked at the number of people that were shocked by that news.

In fairness Richmond's midfield during their three premierships included Cotchin (pick 2), Martin (pick 3), Caddy (pick 7), Prestia (pick 9), Vlastuin (pick 9), Rioli (pick 15), Ellis (pick 15), with Grigg (pick 19), Edwards (pick 26) and Bolton (pick 29) selected in the second round. So that's a lot of players who rotated through their midfield who were considered top end talent pre-draft (2 x top 3 picks, 5 x top 10 picks, 7 x first rounders and 10 x first/second rounders).
Vlastuin, Ellis and Rioli spent next to zero time in the midfield during their flag years. The first two were in defence and Rioli was primarily forward. Ditto Bolton until 2020 when he started playing in the middle more often.

Agree the core of Cotchin, Martin, Edwards and Prestia were all taken high in drafts

I can name flag sides with only 1 key forward, but can't name a flag side that didn't have an elite midfield. I just noticed below you said Richmond manage with less top end. You're having a laaaarf.

I'm not saying don't try and find another KPF. I'm saying find one through other means than trading Harley. Find one in the top 5 or 10 over the next few seasons.
Here’s the mistake everybody makes. Who led Richmond’s midfield. One big tough motherf…r who was also a handy footballer. Nankervis.

At this point normally there should be a handful you KNOW are out the door.

No idea why we aren't announcing that XON, West, Clark, Trew etc are all following Foley out the door. I mean Gee whiz. Blind Freddy can see the writing there.

Then you might have 1 or two late sign ons or delistings, depending how certain things play out. SPS, Waterman, Witherden types. That's how it normally is.

Can't say I've ever seen a club drip feed delistings like this before. Quite bizarre.
Interesting approach, strings a few players a long I feel Screenshot_20230912_104939_Facebook.jpg

If we did go Reid at 1(fingers crossed), does the club reserve number 9 for him to give him a little pump up? How do the jumper numbers work? Thought it pretty much comes down to seniority and existing club players have choice of numbers of retiring players and then the new players just get to pick out of what ever is left over.

I’d give him number 9 it hasn’t been used for 2 years and it would be good for the number one pick to get it.
