Look, all jokes aside I'm honestly cautious of returning for a chunk of games at AO. I know it isn't good for the club but I still fancy our chances winning more playing away at other ovals.

The Vics will suit themselves after the next five weeks, they’ll blame SA Gov then, we get what we get, just roll with it. As if it hasn’t been made abundantly clear through this process it’s a joke of a league anyway.

Even though it will be tough on the playing group if we have to play in interstate hubs for most of the year then so be it. The club has shown some true grit so far this year if they can achieve success this year in these circumstances these players will go down as immortals for our club and be respected as well as any port side has for last 150 years.
Hope things are better by October at least we could see a home final or 2.

I like our club's 'get on with it' attitude. It is quite Port Adelaide to be frank.

This season is not set up for the over indulged, over privileged glamour clubs. Their crowds are gone, their fixturing advantages are gone, their whole show pony way of life is gone. It's a season for the salt of the earth footy club to work hard and take the prize - let's hope it's us.

Not letting the vic teams in is ridiculous and a dick move. Quarantine them for 14 days but the odds are dramatically low any of them have it. Even when they are here they are under the AFL's draconian rules anyway so any spreading if one did happen to have it is going to be already limited.
Reciprocity is such a ridiculous principle: "They are behaving like idiots and treating us badly; let's show them we can be idiots too!"

It doesn't make any sense, but people do that all the time. Diplomats and Politicians love it! It's insane.

The sobering thought is the community infection rate for Victoria over the last three days is higher than it was in early April at the height of the epidemic.

On 2-4 April Victoria had 34 community infections while on the 30 jun-2Jul they had 61 community infections and it is growing.

So Marshall cans an AFL hub in Adelaide. Why should that shock anyone? Marshall poured cold water all over AFL hubs a fortnight back.

As I posted last week, why would you announce that fact that you are going to allow 25,000 people into Adelaide Oval on a Friday then pour cold water on AFL hubs on the Sunday?

One wonders how the SMA feel about this development.

I heard a couple of months back that the Premier regretted the CMO retaining absolute power for an extra month or something, because she was dragging her feet with local sport, surely that's passed now. This is just another shit decision made without the big picture in mind.

Allowing 25K at Adelaide Oval then saying no to a hub is peak Adelaide.

Its all a political game at this point, and has been through the entire last few months. Technically speaking, the AFL haven't even created any hubs outside of QLD yet, and all that has really been made clear is that SA Govt doesn't want players coming directly from Victoria without a 14 day quarantine. It's absurd, but that is the stance for now.

SA is opening its borders to everyone bar Victoria on July 20. I expect all Victorian teams to be out of Victoria within the next 7 days where they'll hub in NSW and WA, possibly QLD or the NT as well (the latter i think is unlikely). They can hub there for 2 weeks, and from there it will be past July 20 when the borders reopen without restriction. Provided they don't return to Victoria, I have no doubt that SA will be putting their hands up not necessarily to host a hub, but they'll say that teams in the hubs in the other states can fly to Adelaide as per any standard away fixture to play Crows or Port.

Once the border restrictions are removed, the govt doesn't really have a leg to stand on anyway, though at that point, actively trying to keep AFL players out of SA who have been based outside of Victoria for a few weeks would be flat out moronic.

Testing criteria was fairly different in early April compared to what it is now. Cant really compare the two given the testing criteria now is so much more broad.

There's talk that more suburbs could be locked down in Melbourne. Not that I want that to happen but if I could just pick one suburb that would Toorak.

Dare I say if you're living in Toorak, you can pay the fine that comes with flouting any lockdown.

I wonder if we will get games here in a row late in the year - and for that part the AFL will want their prized Vic teams will be heading home - I can see us getting shafted big time.

The issue there is Victorian players wanting to head home to family in about a month. Not unreasonable for a week or two. Which brings us back to quarantine on the way out.
