Testing criteria was fairly different in early April compared to what it is now. Cant really compare the two given the testing criteria now is so much more broad.

Dare I say if you're living in Toorak, you can pay the fine that comes with flouting any lockdown.
If only repeat offenders faced jail time

The issue there is Victorian players wanting to head home to family in about a month. Not unreasonable for a week or two. Which brings us back to quarantine on the way out.

A month is a long time in this world right now. By then the Victorian spread may have been contained and SA will be more receptive to opening up the border. Anything is possible at this point but the only real way to get through this is the old adage of one day at a time.

Isn't the states borders opening up to WA on the 20th? Or did I miss that

Last I heard the SA border to WA is already open. It is the WA border with SA that is not open. You can move from WA into SA without quarantine but if you go from SA to WA it is still 14 days.

Victorians not welcome: South Australia says 'no' to footy hub

South Australian government tells the AFL its state won't be hosting a hub
"There won't be a hub in South Australia this year," South Australian health and well being minister Stephen Wade told SEN SA radio on Friday morning.
"We know that's very disappointing. Australian rules football is a cherished part of Australian life but public health has to come first. We've already seen cases of community
transmission from state to state and we need to make sure AFL is not a bridge for that."

"We are keen for there to be an AFL season this year but in the context of Victoria being the hub of coronavirus infection at the moment, and also the base for the majority of the AFL teams, that's a very challenging environment for public health clinicians. South Australia has indicated we won't be giving exemptions from the 14 day isolation requirement.

Am I missing something?

The proposal was for Vic teams to play in Perth for 3 weeks and then come to SA. Under current rules, my mate from Victoria, having served his quarantine in Perth, doesn’t have to quarantine a second time in SA- so why does a footy team doing the same thing have to do a second quarantine?

If Marshall ends up disadvantaging Port and costing us a flag by this stupid rule, I will actively vote him down.

What am I missing?

So no hub in SA, but FIFO form other states could be considered. Does that mean the teams in the WA hub could come to SA after, having already quarantined, and spend just over a week here to play 2 games, or would that be considered a hub? Because while they'll be able to come into SA, they probably won't be able to fly back to WA any time soon, so they'd need to stay for 2 games to make it viable.

Won't surprise me now if the AFL says SA is being too difficult, so SA teams have to hub for the whole season and nobody bats an eyelid.

The sobering thought is the community infection rate for Victoria over the last three days is higher than it was in early April at the height of the epidemic.

On 2-4 April Victoria had 34 community infections while on the 30 jun-2Jul they had 61 community infections and it is growing.
But its completely understandable for them to be ignoring medical advice and continually breaking the rules.

There's talk that more suburbs could be locked down in Melbourne. Not that I want that to happen but if I could just pick one suburb that would Toorak.

That would be good for me. I have a lot of clients in Toorak and they'll need to stock up again.

I think plausibly Victorian teams can come to SA on the way home after being in a WA or NSW hub for 14 days. Whether the AFL will schedule that I am not certain.

It just makes the most logical sense. They'd only need to be in adelaide a maximum of 8 days. Get two games in (crows and port) and then they go back to Victoria.

I dont see us having multiple home games in a row during the back end of the season, but there's no reason why we shouldn't get at least a few more over the next 6 weeks.

From July 20th we should be able to have teams flying in and out of SA from Queensland, NSW or WA for as long as necessary. It really seems pretty straightforward.

They're contradicting themselves in a way... They're saying no to Victorian teams being in hubs here, which is fair enough in isolation, but they're more than happy to bring in over seas ex pats from highly infected countries and place them in hotels for 2 weeks.

Do the knobs not realise they could stick them in quarantine for 2 weeks first?

Look, all jokes aside I'm honestly cautious of returning for a chunk of games at AO. I know it isn't good for the club but I still fancy our chances winning more playing away at other ovals.

This AND if we do it tough, the asterix thing can get ****ed 😂

Health Minister Stephen Wade says the AFL will have to plan around SA to keep its season going.
The AFL is set to announce a revamped Round 6 fixture on Friday after decisions by the Queensland, NSW and SA Governments to either put new restrictions on Victorians and Victorian teams – or scrap planned lifting of them – put the 2020 season in crisis.

“We were planning to lift the border restrictions, recent circumstances means we won’t get there. We will open the borders when it is safe to do so,” Mr Wade said on SEN SA Breakfast.

“There won’t be a hub in South Australia this year.

So does that mean teams will FIFO??

Well surely the Gov must compensate both teams financially?

Here have 25k but we aren't letting anybody in.... Seriously
