So does that mean teams will FIFO??

Well surely the Gov must compensate both teams financially?

Here have 25k but we aren't letting anybody in.... Seriously
You know half the state want the season called off!

Does that mean we may not get one more game in Adelaide...?

IMO no, It just makes it harder for the Gillon and Auld to do the programming.
No reason why they can't travel from interstate hubs to play here when ever it allowed to via state rules.

We play sh*t at home anyway

No whinging from us..

Clarkson complains and they'll move the earth for him.
They will just award Hawthorn the 4 points for each Hub game they would have to have played and let them stay at home.

But people are still refusing to be tested for the deadly virus with Victoria’s Health Minister Jenny Mikakos confirming more than 10,000 Victorians had declined so far.

“It is concerning that some people believe that coronavirus is a conspiracy or that it won’t impact on them, so what I want to stress here is that coronavirus is a very contagious virus,” she said.

Ms Mikakos also warned about a potential “super-spreader” who could be responsible for “many cases” across Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs.

Mr Andrews was tight-lipped over allegations unqualified and ill-trained security guards were deployed to look after the State Government’s quarantine program in at least 15 Melbourne hotels.

A judicial inquiry will probe the scandal with a report due on September 25.

But its completely understandable for them to be ignoring medical advice and continually breaking the rules.

Yes, I heard a civil rights lawyer arguing that many people in the affected areas in Melbourne had english as their second language and did not understand the social distancing rules etc. So they went through at least eight weeks of stage 3 lock down and still do not understand the social distancing rules? Did they not go to a pharmacy or a bank or a supermarket and see the 1.5 metre signs or the lines and crosses stuck all over the floors? Regardless of ethnic background, language barriers etc pleading ignorance of the rules is a feeble excuse.

All the time this sharp dresser was talking I was thinking, is this guy touting for business? Cop a fine, argue that you do not speak english and I will get you off.

So no hub in SA, but FIFO form other states could be considered. Does that mean the teams in the WA hub could come to SA after, having already quarantined, and spend just over a week here to play 2 games, or would that be considered a hub? Because while they'll be able to come into SA, they probably won't be able to fly back to WA any time soon, so they'd need to stay for 2 games to make it viable.

Won't surprise me now if the AFL says SA is being too difficult, so SA teams have to hub for the whole season and nobody bats an eyelid.

Actually I have had a bit of a think about the situation and I do not think the SA Government is being all that hard to get on with. The AFL have it in their hands to move teams out of Victoria and engineer a quarantine period for all Victorian teams. They had it in their hands this time last week when an AFL player tested positive and it was obvious that things were going pear shaped in Victoria yet they did nothing, in fact as I post they still haven't done anything it is all speculation about what they might do.

All through this is the smell of arrogance, the smell of an AFL that thinks the rest of Australia will to bow to their wishes. Even at this late stage the AFL could fix the situation. They could suspend the competition, schedule a bye and programme the Victorian and non Victorian sides to play each other upon resumption even if it is a split round to get rid of the postponed Essendon v Melbourne game. That would take 2-3 weeks and create a quarantine period. More importantly it would take us past the deadlines imposed by some states and travel between the States becomes very likely. It also gives the Victorians a bit more time to get on top of the contagion in the hot spots.

None of this is easy but I will bet that the AFL hasn't even had a contingency plan for Victoria and had hubs for all 10 Victorian clubs mapped out and organised in case they were needed. As a result Gillion will have had frantic last minute phone around trying to find States and venues that can host Victorian clubs.

As much as I disagree with many things that Marshall has done and acknowledge that he hasn't helped the situation I am not prepared to pillory him because of the AFL's short comings.

Just now. 6 victorian teams going to the hub including north Queensland. We'll just stay there all year id imagine.
Queensland blocked Richmond from entering the state without a 14 day quaratine this week. So they couldn't play their game against West Coast there this week.

However, when it comes to hubs, Queensland is willing to give Victorian AFL clubs an exemption from having to quarantine for 14 days on arrival, because the AFL clubs are going through their own mini quarantine in Melbourne...

Interesting...

I guess it was always going to happen. Some people make genuine errors and some people try to rort the system.

I’ve a theory there’s a large number of sole traders out there who may not have been eligible for jobseeker payments due to visa issues but perhaps looked at Jobkeeper as a way to keep food on the table?

This border thing is a dog's breakfast with no consistency between States and inconsistencies within each State.

What exactly is a mini quarantine? I would have thought you either do the 14 days or you don't.

The whole thing is a steaming pile of shit from all angles.
Is the AFL even talking with state governments about this? Because it seems like everyone is doing what they want, saying what they want, and nobody is on the same page.
Our health minister has ruled out a hub in SA. Here's part of what he said..
"We are keen for there to be an AFL season this year but in the context of Victoria being the hub of coronavirus infection at the moment"

Over 600,000 cases in India, nearly 20,000 dead. Why have we allowed a plane load of Indians from there to land, and go into quaratine, but we wont allow Victorian clubs to enter SA for a hub? The situation in India is infinitely many times worse then what's going on in Victoria.
Those passengers are all in quarantine. It was known and expected that there would be new infections from those passengers, and there has been, but they let them in anyway.
It makes no sense at all to allow that, but not allow interstate clubs into SA to play in a hub after they quarantine.

6 Victorian clubs are going to the Queensland hub. Hubs in WA & NSW are also probably going to go ahead.

Obviously nothing in Victoria, but we have the virus in check here in SA, but we miss out on a hub because...............................?

The minister says "We're keen to work with the AFL to explore all options,".

When? how? After you publicly rule out any AFL hub in SA? After you announce that Port & Crows will have to quarantine for 2 weeks if they return to SA after playing a Victorian club in Queensland?
They say that there will be no exceptions to isolation rules, but they also say that the premier has ruled out a hub. So which is it, imply we can have a hub perhaps if isolation rules are observed, or we cant have a hub?

" The premier has indicated there won't be a hub in South Australia and there won't be exemptions to isolation rules."

What exactly is a mini quarantine? I would have thought you either do the 14 days or you don't.
I think it was actually a reference to the additional restrictions that the AFL is placing on players. The same restrictions that weren't good enough to allow Richmond to play in Queensland last night without 14 days quarantine. But they are good enough for a team entering a hub.

Seems that Anastacia was more interested in forcing the AFLs hand to get hubs outside of Victoria, which results in clubs staying in Queensland hotels and generates some revenue for Queensland hotels.

So at least 10,000 people in the Melbourne suburb hotspots have refused to be tested. How the heck are the health authorities supposed to get a handle on this thing??? 🤦‍♂️
