Derby Grand Final in front of a sold out Optus with the rest of the country on its knees, can't wait.
Happy to do 14 days on Rotto if I can fly over to watchDerby Grand Final in front of a sold out Optus with the rest of the country on its knees, can't wait.
I agree with the sentiment CM9000, but the virus isn't eradicated. The rest of the world proves that. Controlled is probably a better description, however, if we maintain the international border control, I reckon we can keep control of the virus. Fortunately for us this big brown land's geographical location helps us maintain those borders and social distancing controls.I’m pretty certain they could start contact sport on 18 May without any problems, and I’m not sure how they’ll enforce the 20 patron limit on things like libraries. We have 7 active cases in the entire state - if we keep up the quarantine measures for international arrivals, plus for people coming in from Vic/NSW, we’ll most likely have 1 or even zero active cases in WA. This will probably be the case by the 18, and in that scenario, we’ll just be waiting for basically no reason while the virus has effectively been eradicated.
They should make it even shorter after the 18, probably even 2 weeks. There’s no reason to prolong this lockdown if what we’ve been doing has eradicated community transmission for over 2 weeks.
I’m just probably being impatient, but I just want my ******* Ammos back.
June 1st Long Weekend, watch out!So we can go anywhere from Jurien (mid west region starts at Greenhead) to somewhere east of Albany.
How many people do you think will hit the road at sunup on the 18th, my guess a lot.
Gonna go somewhere nice and quiet out in the eastern wheatbelt I thinkJune 1st Long Weekend, watch out!
Agree fully. The pubs are only open as dining places with alcohol served with food only but yeah imagine the smaller ones would serve a pack of Samboys with a jug of beer for the regulars. It's awesome to be reducing lockdowns but some of this doesn't seem very well thought out. Hopefully they'll amend as they go:
- why wait another week to start?
- allowing pubs and restaurants to open with 20 patrons is a smoke screen. No pub could justify doing that, it would cost them more money than staying shut, due to staff and security requirements. The casino can do the same - can you imagine the whole casino complex only having 20 people in it? I would prefer that they mandated something like the 4m2 and minimum distances for tables, that way larger venues (Casino, Camfield) can also get going.
- why are we keeping outdoor gyms and playgrounds closed, when most other states are opening them?
No pub! I quite confidently predict some pubs will open. They only have to open a dining area, minimal staff and security needed for 20 patrons, obviously won't work for every pub but you gotta start somewhere and 20 is double anywhere else in the country. If a venue can turnover 50 or 60 covers a night with drinks it's possible to cover costs and make a small profit. I've been into plenty of pubs during the day that have 3 or 4 staff working and less than 20 people in them. It's awesome to be reducing lockdowns but some of this doesn't seem very well thought out. Chairman Dan is holding a presser at 11am EST, which should give an indication of where the AFL is at and a possible start time.
And i will be most likely against the norm here, i love my footy, but without the crowds it is not the same and i could not care if it does not start this year.
Karri Valley Resort has had an upgrade. THat's a great spot, the cabins have fireplaces too. A bit frigid down Pemberton way in Winter though.Wife's 40th coming up late June - looks like we may be able to do a trip to somewhere at least (we were initially looking at Vanuatu but clearly that's going to be a 41st thing). Hopefully Margs wineries will be open - Air BNB with a fireplace could be a winner.

Can you PM me the link too please Dan? Cheers. If you plan on going away with other people I'll send you a link to a place we stayed for my wife's 30th. Great location in Yallingup, big grassed area for the kids, no stairs if there are little kids. Big wood fire, free firewood, massive kitchen kitted out with everything, heaters in the bedrooms..

I took my kids down a few times when they were toddlers. The balconies are secure, and they loved the birds that would come in for a feed.A good place for a tolder?
Thinking of going to Margs for 3 nights then either pemberton or Walpole for a couple.
Notied Cheeky Monkey opening back up so might be able to go sample me some brews.
Lol - SW is going to be smashed with tourists. We were planning an overseas trip this year, but will also be looking to get away locally instead. I'm going to wait until July/August when hopefully restaurants/wineries/breweries are open.
