Could Shaun Burgoyne be the first player to play against his nephew in AFL football?

Shaun Burgoyne has had amazing longevity in the game of AFL football, and there are certain records that probably aren't kept that he could break or be extremely close to breaking. With Trent Burgoyne being taken in the 2019 draft, could Shaun Burgoyne be the first Uncle/Nephew match-up in the history of the AFL? Are there others I've missed?

What are some other odd family match-ups in the history of the sport? Think father-son coaching combinations and so on.

I was about to say Kevin Sheedy might have coached both Ken and Dustin Fletcher but looks like he missed out by one season.

Anyone able to come up with a coach that has had both father and son under their tutelage?

Sheeds would have gotten both Tim and Jobe Watson I'd reckon?

Surely there would have been others? I am no historian of the game but an uncle can obviously be the same age as their nephew in a big or spread out family.

Edit: I guess some might have played with each other idk

Neville Jetta is Kosi Pickett's uncle.

Not quite opponents but interesting anyway

Interesting. I never know with the indigenous blokes because they seem to use uncle more loosely.

Like, there were reports that Marlion was Kosi Pickett's uncle also but I'm not sure if it's uncle-uncle or not.

Uncle is a title of respect, reinforcing the notion of valuing elders and family.

The indigenous players would be where I expect genuine uncles and nephews to have played against each other given how much talent has come from some, albeit large, small number of family groups.

The Pickett clan are many in number,

Allistair Pickett, ... (2002) winner of the Sandover Medal for the WAFL’s best player, has football in his blood. He is a cousin of Kangaroo star Byron Pickett, is related to former great Jim Krakouer, and is a cousin and close confidant of Jeff Farmer. Pickett’s partner, Renarta, is a niece of Claremont and Kangaroos superstars Jim and Phil Krakouer.

Pickett, 29, polled 33 votes to win the medal from East Perth’s Ryan Turnbull and Peel Thunder teammate Daniel Wells, who both scored 27 votes.

Pickett is the first player in the Mandurah-based Peel Thunder club’s short history to win the Sandover. After his win, he related how he came to give Farmer his nickname. About 15 years ago, “Jeff was playing juniors with Australs in Katanning and I can remember he was really disappointed to miss out on winning an award,” Pickett said. “We were sitting at home and I said to Jeff, ‘Don’t worry mate, one day you might grow up and be a wizard.’ Ever since, Jeff has had the nickname Wizard.”

Allistair Pickett..... run out on to the ground to play side-by-side with his son.

Pickett is married with four children. His oldest son, Alliston, also played for Subiaco,[4] and in July 2010 made WAFL history by being the first ever father and son to play in the same league game.[9] Pickett is related to Byron Pickett and Jeff Farmer. Pickett is credited with giving Farmer the nickname "Wizard".[10] \

I'm sure in the TFL, there would be a load of questionable relationship match ups

Pickett was referenced not for his personal achievements, it was family relationships in the indigenous community.

Wait, so Allistair Pickett and his wife were both related to Jim Krakouer before they got married?

Yeah that was my thought. Uncle is a seriously loose term in the indigenous community.
