1 - it's paywalled, mate
2 - the fact you posted it just 19 minutes after it was published tells me you should stop rotting your brain by actually paying to read the rag and devouring content the moment it is published

One thing that grinds my gears is people heaping blame on the hospital system solely at the foot of the current government. They took over a badly under-resourced health care system and one can certainly argue that they should have done more to prepare during the pandemic, but what about the situation they inherited? The previous government presided over a massive mining boom and sure they built the kids hospital (which essentially just replaced PMH - and of course they stuffed up the piping in the kids hospital because they tried to do it on the cheap and ended up just spending extra money to fix the problem). They build Fiona Stanley which is world class, but the southern suburbs are huge and FSH is supposed to cover everywhere from Freo to Rockingham to Armadale to places out in the hills and by the airport. Meanwhile they closed Freo as a trauma hospital and took out about 2/3 of the beds, so now it's just kind of an empty husk that does mental health and day clinics while taking up a lot of valuable real estate in Freo. I guess we did get the raging success stories at Elizabeth Quay and Yagan Square though!

Very good argument.
Perhaps you should stop stalking me up and down the forum posting a minute after I post things.. then again good try to deflect the fact that the premier is the master of mistruths and scaremongering.

I was in the thread already, you might notice the forum has a feature that lets you know when a post immediately pops up in a thread you are watching.

And all that rhetoric doesn't change the fact we still don't have access to the article you want us to read.

I am now dbl Novaxxed

But they fact checked his claims and found seven of them were false!

You’ll just have to take their word for that, though. You can’t fact check their fact checking. Not without paying for the privilege.

Eh, bogus 'fact checking'..
One such example....

'They said almost 5000 when actually we calculated 3800'

That's a weird hill to die on...

'When someone says almost in a press conference the actual number in question needs to have no more than 10% variation to the stated number or that is FALSE, LIES, SLANDER!!!'

Or you could just watch his presser like normal people and go ****, what a shape shifting piece of shit.

Come on, the current Government has been in power for 5 years! That's enough time to build new hospitals if they wanted to. Don't tell me we had too much debt either, they found money for that Metronet project (that still isn't finished 4 years later).

Who is doing the bolded? Large infrastructure projects (FSH, PCH, Mandurah rail line, Optus Stadium, Elizabeth Quay etc.) take years to plan, approve and build and typically span multiple govts. If you could preempt covid in March 2020 and approve another large hospital it would be lucky to have broken ground by now.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Marko should've built another FSH in the last two years, but for someone who spends every second day standing on a soapbox telling everyone how he saved the state from covid, he's really done 2/5 of SFA despite posting a massive surplus. You don't need a $1b building to call it a hospital, ever watched M*A*S*H? The health system is cooked because there isn't enough staff, and staff are hard to come by when no one is allowed into the state... What are all the nursing graduates and doctors looking for residency placements doing? If it's like any other year there are probably graduate nurses like teachers who can't get work because positions aren't available.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself

To a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide

And then questions the manner in which I provide it.

I would rather you just said “thank you” and went on your way.

Metronet was something like a 15-year plan. Parts of it have been finished, parts are underway, parts haven’t even begun.

Having 7 News on in the background, their poll had 73% of respondents agreeing with the decision to delay reopening.

Obviously in no way scientific but I found that number quite high, I expected closer to 50/50, especially given the noise on social media.

People who respond to a 7News poll is as accurate as people who post on a BF forum for a gauge of society imo

My cousin and her hubby will return from NSW soon as they have a GTG pass cos they live here . They have to quarantine in their own house 14 days . They don't see it as a big deal , at least they aren't complaining on Facebook on our family page . My 6 bro's and sis. Plus there spouses all support McGowans new plan ( whatever it will be )

I'm glad for you and them that they can afford to do the quarantine

Yes much more civilised to let 'er rip like the United States and let a million people die.

This caveman went to the gym 3 times this week, went to a quiz night, went to a crowded pub late arvo today, and am having about 20 mates over tomorrow. Sure is rough living in this cave, doing things that people in many states in Australia are not allowed to do.
Hope you haven't visited any massage parlous?

Ah you saying don't blame McGowan's government because all the previous government did was build 2 massive world class hospitals?

Strange post

BTW freo hospital is old and shit

There's about to be plenty of experienced doctors and nurses available from the NHS over the next couple of months if they don't reverse their current policy. Although WA probably won't want them because demonising the unvaccinated is more important than resourcing their health system.

There are a few outer systemic issues than no 'party' can address. There is a strong sentiment of protectionism (for individual pay and status) that pishes good people away fom public hospitals amd it is strongest in WA given the isolation and scale.

Practices within hospitals dont change with investment they will only change with leadership. There is bugger all.
