Pretty much everything in that article is spot on. If you want to keep the border shut- fine, do it. But we don't need the separatist crap along the way.

Well certainly he has decided he needs to crank up the fear as since he has attracted criticism for his mistruths and border closures he has gone into reporting the daily tally’s of deaths of the other states…. He of course then puts a fake sympathy statement on the end to seem sincere…

Lowest consumer sentiment in 30 years through January. The economy and workforce participation has been hurt by Omicron and Sanderson wasnt the first to use the phrase shadow lockdown.

The article is demonstrably wrong given the lockdown and lockouts going on in the NT.

Really have to respect Tucker Carlson's eagerness to kill off people who watch Fox News.

Alex Berenson, by the way, studied history and economics in uni and is a fiction writer, and has been banned from Twitter for consistently sharing misinformation about Covid and vaccines. Just in case anyone was wondering how things are going on the most-watched show on America's most-watched "news" network.

My comment was more about the mud slinging between states. It's childish and adds nothing.

If the federal government is going to back Clive Palmer's frivolous lawsuits, the Deputy Prime Minister call WA a hermit kingdom and compare it to North Korea, and the Premier of NSW take frequent pot shots at WA by comparing McGowan to Gollum (and just yesterday bragging about their awesome health care system and saying they "don't need to permanently close their borders like Western Australia" and "we don't have to go into lockdowns") - a curious statement in a state where there was a three month lockdown in the capital city, hundreds of people are dying each week, and a woman recently had to perform CPR on her own stillborn baby while her husband drove to the hospital because the 000 dispatcher could not give them any idea of when an ambulance might arrive - then the WA government can hardly be blamed for pointing out that they've done a much better job at avoiding economic strife, lockdowns, illness and death than the Coalition people who are attacking them.

Right, but you also have to factor in that some people who aren’t from here and three years ago would joke about never wanting to come here are mad that they now can’t. Think of the real victims please.

Pretty sure news.com journalists were already well and truly on the list.

Low quality journalism, but I laugh when as soon as the tide of public opinion turns against McGowan people immediately jump to discrediting the source.

You could tune into Sky News any time in the last two years and the sentiment would be the same. McGowan bad. WA insular. Restrictions over the top. Etc. Victoria in lockdown, 0 cases in WA = WA bad. At least they are consistent. Once they pick a horse they flog it post mortem.

Meanwhile The West features front page fluff pieces about McGowan in is WA bomber jacket and that's OK, but when they stick the boots in for not having a plan after two years it's boo hiss right wing rag always sticking the boots in etc.

Any bets on when the border will come down?

I can't see it still being there after March.

When NSW and Vic have notably come off their peak. And then add 4 weeks to review hospitalisations beyond the peak.

I suspect the game plan until then is to manage Omicron as best as we can here. Stop it from spiking too quickly.

It's all shit.

I just cringe every time McGowan says "over east". It's real chip on the shoulder stuff.

You dont think that "Facebook nuffies" have the right to take the word of doctors? It's what we do, right? Or do we take the word of politicians and health workers that are aligned with politicians?
I think you need to re-read what I posted.

The poll was created for 'doctors' to sign, yet it's being signed by Facebook nuffies who, in fact, aren't doctors.

Get it?

Omicron is so last week. But WA is preparing for it. BA.2 is stealthier and listed below is all the science we know so far

It's all sh*t.

It's also pretty tiresome watching the WA Premier potshot other states' handling of COVID when his govt to date refuses to actually deal with it. There's definitely a sentiment of 'piss or get off the pot mate' bubbling away.

McGowan should really shut his mouth about death counts in other states and how their health systems are coping because he's just inviting criticism when our time comes. You can't hide behind 'we crushed COVID in 2020' forever.

Well when 99% of doctors are saying one thing and 1% of doctors are saying another and someone takes the side of the 1% I think facebook nuffies is an apt description

I’d like to see the 99% as an actual non made up statistic.

The fact is that people who stay in their lane have a vert good understanding, but only in absolutist terms. That’s why whilst virologists know a lot about the spread of viruses, they may not be the best people to make generalised public health statements.

I mean, investment bankers know a lot about finance, but I’m not talking to an investment banker about the best savings account

Facebook petition that could have doctors (no way of being certain the majority are even doctors full stop, much less doctors from WA) with roughly 6000 signatures is not a valid source of medical opinion or health advice and I cannot believe you are going down that road.

I have never stated anywhere that I believe that 6000 of those people I believe are doctors.

However, as a small sample size, of the 6 medical doctors that I personally know, 5 are of the same opinion of that petition.

That’s all well and good, but I’d like to think I’ve been consistent in calling news.com and The West shitrags.

It's a far more likely to be true figure than 6000 doctors have signed an online petition to open the borders

If your point is that The West is a terrible newspaper, you’ll certainly get no argument from me.
