Group 2 wide open now. Windies stabilised a bit, but still far from certain to qualify. Fridays matches are both must watch.

Hoping Netherlands can put on a competitive show in the other group.

Correct, around two diva but I'm not sure of exact numbers but there will be two divs

In my opinion that plan doesn't improve the quality of competition as the playing pool is still diluted.

They need actually merge clubs and make competition within each club so if you are playing a grade you are a decent cricketer.
Presumably players will leave B grade clubs for those playing A grade.

Hoping Ireland and Scot get through, shame about the WI but then the breaks

Ire v WI match will say who gets at least 2nd you would think

I don't know about that.
If you were a long time player for one club, going through Juniors up to playing in their A grade team (in div 2), would you leave to go play at another club just to play div 1?

Amateur league footy doesn't get all players moving clubs to play at the highest grade possible; most people like to stay at one club for a while at least. Yeah there are some Mercs and some that might leave a childhood club to go play another division, but majority of people don't like changing clubs/friends/closeness to home.

We will see soon I suppose. But I'm sceptical.

Top order absolutely s**t their pants
They've never really had a top order. Tonight was a very typical innings from what I've seen of them since last world cup actually.

It says a lot that I can actually think a team like Namibia underperformed I guess. And Dutch qualification makes it less likely that one of Netherlands/Scotland/Ireland will miss the next world cup. There's regional based qualification next time around and only 2 spots for non-automatic European teams.

I can't ever imagine Doug Walters or DKL or Chappel doing a Cummins going to to CA (back then ACB) and saying we don't want Benson & Hedges as our sponsor. Dougie probably enjoyed a free cartoon of B&H a week from the sponsor. While waiting to bat apparently he was playing cards while smoking and downing a stubby.

You'd be surprised how activist cricketers were in the 1970s. Ever heard of World Series Cricket?

The issues may have been different, but their willingness to take action was no different whatsoever.
