SURELY their papers have been stamped by now?

I wouldn't have thought so, particularly Bancroft. This season we've tried to turn a number 4 into an opener then resorted to a 19 year old slogger. I'd rather we replaced Usman with someone who at least knows the position. Harris is by no means past it. Bancroft the better option though really. Deserves a good go at it after the last opener stitched him up and killed his career.

The ball didn't hit the ground. Joel Wilson just seems to get everything wrong.

When I first saw it, it looked like it touched the ground. I can see where he drew his conclusion from.

Smith had to demonstrate control and the fact he threw the ball up suggests he lacked control, knew it and in my view was the give away Smith didnt know what the ball was doing while it was in his hands and he knew he couldnt maintain whatever control he thought he had. There was enough doubt in my mind to give it not out.

I dont know but Bumrah is a child. India are entering a process of generational change, they know it and are finding out the hard way that legends cant continue forever. Combine those frustrations with the sooky entitled victims they always claim to be I expect them to run to every news service in India and complain about everything they can. Its not our fault we lost, we were the victims of bullying. Strange though, looked every bit India are doing the bullying. Pretty sad really.

Id actually like to see AC stand up for the team and actually get on the front foot first and label India a disappointment for their bullying approach.

Will be interesting. Hope the leadership are in his ear keeping him settled and the expectations at a minimum. If I am Marnus Id be at full chirp tomorrow to sucker the Indians focus away from konstas. In fact id push every line and get in as many faces as possible. At least while Konstas is out there. I agree. I think the selectors should axe Khawaja after this test and go to Sri Lanka with McSweeney and Konstas opening. We both know that wont happen and they will keep the status quo for the next test series.

Yes but a 19yo kid who isnt afraid to chirp in a pressure situation and as someone who hasnt cemented his game, his focus shouldnt be on the fight but his own game. Thats where the leadership comes in. Keep the kid settled and focused. By Marnus and Co chirping instead, it will take the pressure away from Konstas and he can focus on his own game. Thats what I mean.

It's refreshing to read views like this - it has big Wayne energy to hold a view that seems this unique.

Who would have thought picking an experienced opener averaging 50 in Shield Cricket this season to partner a young kid on an overseas tour would be such an outlandish proposition?

Khawaja's reputation far exceeds what he has ever delivered. Definitely had some good innings in some series as many would if you keep getting picked but he has only ever been an okay player. I think the whole Warner circus took the spotlight off his performances.

Seems like there is a push for Handscombe again because of spin. Surely we just pick the best team.
