I always thought Renshaw was the guy to be the long term opener, had the right mentality, technically very good. Good pairing with an attacking partner. But he never really kicked on.
Does the World Test Championship get a shout out here?In Test cricket there's only 2 series that matter.
We've just played one, and that's the other one.
We need to find 3 fast bowlers and a spinner, Boland isn't a long term answer. And we need another opener (maybe 2) and 2 middle order bats.
Green could fill 2 of those roles should be able to stay fit
There are only 3 Tests between now and The Ashes - 2 in Sri Lanka, and the WTC Final in England. There are also a number of ODIs (most notably the Champions Trophy), but Khawaja doesn't play that format anyway. There are basically no opportunities for blooding a Khawaja replacement between now and The Ashes.Does the World Test Championship get a shout out here?
I think if we win that, the team will stick together for the Ashes. Marsh may have played himself out of contention, but without an obvious candidate, I think Khawaja keeps his spot as the selectors want to reward the group. They won't push someone unless weight of form dictates as did with Marsh.
Then after the Ashes, we'll have a whole just like when Ponting, Gilchrist, Hayden etc retired in quick succession, and we'll be pretty rubbish for a while I am expecting.
Yes, it's at Lord's, from 11-15 June. Also, is the final of the Test Championship always supposed to be in England?
Seems like something Premier Pete could throw some taxpayer dollars at. I wouldn't mind an England v India final here at Adelaide Oval.
But is every final in England? There have been 2 already at Rose Bowl and The Oval. What is the protocol?Yes, it's at Lord's, from 11-15 June.
He has played tests since then, but has lost all consistency in his game now.His card was stamped the minute he ran off the field to take a shit. Border hates players who won't shit their strides for Australia.
Do we go to the West Indies for tests as well? There are only 3 Tests between now and The Ashes - 2 in Sri Lanka, and the WTC Final in England. The next final seems to be at Lords as well, according to Wikipedia.
Seems to be always in England, regardless of which teams are competing. The poms have yet to make the final, in 3 WTC cycles. But is every final in England? There have been 2 already at Rose Bowl and The Oval. What is the protocol?

Not between now and The AshesDo we go to the West Indies for tests as well?
I think we've got 3 tests vs the West Indies in June-July 2025 but the exact dates aren't yet confirmed, so it's not appearing in any calendars yetNot between now and The Ashes
You can see our itinerary on the Australia Cricinfo page: https://www.espncricinfo.com/team/australia-2
We have 2x Tests & 1x ODI in Sri Lanka, then 3x ODIs in the Champions Trophy (possibly more if we make the finals), then it's the WTC final, then it's The Ashes (starting in November, in Perth).
It appears you are correct: https://www.cricket.com.au/news/4191947/mark-your-calendar-2025I think we've got 3 tests vs the West Indies in June-July 2025 but the exact dates aren't yet confirmed, so it's not appearing in any calendars yet
They all seemed to forgive the mastermind alright... Davey was the one who took advantage of the young lad.I was going to say, there are a few players in that team that will never forget Bancroft, captain being one.
They all seemed to forgive the mastermind alright... Davey was the one who took advantage of the young lad.
He was but Bancroft broke ranks when he said the bowlers knew about it and that's the issue. He was the one caught out with Dopey Davey and Smith and rightly or wrongly, they were to absorb the blame to preserve the team and he couldn't do it.
I mean, everyone who has played cricket at any level and bowled would know something was going on, though to be fair, I opened the bowling with a guy who couldn't hit the seam if he tried, I'd often get the ball for the third over and the friggin' thing would be reversing.
Being as that is, if the bowlers after the event say they didn't know and then a year or so down the track, you decide to correct them...and one of them becomes captain, the end result is.
The whole team new. They arent stupid. I dont think when the trio were advised to come forward that Cricket Australia themselves would issue such harsh penalties.
I think he should. An in all likelihood will do so in Sri Lanka.
Seems very strange to me.
I think its the perfect time to give the "next man" a go TBHI think he should.
What we did in South Africa was terrible don't get me wrong.
But CA made it alot worse.
Yeah that's true tooI think its the perfect time to give the "next man" a go TBH
