If we were to delist mackay, imo we should rookie list him as we may as well keep him as a depth player in case we have a run on injuries. You never know, it may motivate him to fight his way back with great form...

I would only consider this if we think we will want to use ROB to relieve sauce during the season.

I don't think Mackay is capable of sustained form. He has played a hand full of good games in his career, not great, good.

After the hype of the trade period all is a bit quiet. Don Pyke at this point does not appear to be generating the enthusiasm that Whalshy did. The crows PR machine should be flat out at this point. "crickets"

I was hoping we'd upgrade ROB and run him off the bench next year. He, Jenkins and Sauce rotating forward, ruck, bench would be potent indeed.

It's the offseason, relax. We've just had our most tumultuous season ever. Everyone at the club must be exhausted. Most of the players are still away. Give it time.

I think he's done and it would be a waste of a rookie spot. I hope he proves me wrong.

Given the lack of depth this trade period& our lack of experience, wouldn't be a big issue rookie listing him for a year... Then if his form doesn't improve, delist & pay out a year when the draft is stronger.

Cheers. If we do delist him how would the payout work with the extra year?
Would we just pay him the 2 remaining years?
Still finding this rumour hard to believe as he is the gold pass player on our list!
I gather 2 year payout, which is why I would as a minimum rookie him for a year. He can take on a mentor role for the sanfl team like pods last year.

Also, gives him 1 last chance to fight is way back all be it unlikely.

Well that makes for an expensive payout. Would we have the room in our cap to pay him out for 3 seasons? If we delist him this week would the payout come from just the 2016 season or is there a way we can write it off over 2 years?

Why?

Walshy was appointed in different circumstances and considering the events of this year with Phil's passing and the club making the finals I think it is appropriate that the club is not blowing up to many balloons at this stage

surely a troll, months to go before we see any footy and way too early to get barred up mate.

Being Australia, everyone is entitled to their four weeks annual leave. It's not as though there'll ever be a better time for a head coach to have a break than immediately after the season.

A little bit inconvenient for us that Pykey was involved in the AFL season for two weeks longer than the rest of our club, but much better for all concerned that he gets time to charge the batteries before launching in to what will hopefully be a huge 2016.
