C'wood- defeating G-Finalist's ranked

This is just a purely subjective off the top of my head ranking of the teams who have defeated Collingwood in the GF in the past 40 years.

1. Brisbane '02
2. Carlton '79
3. Carlton '81
4. StKilda '66
5. Brisbane '03
6.Melbourne '64
7.Carlton '70
8. Nth Melb. '77
9. Richmond '80


It must be said that they have lost to some pretty good teams. The first three teams on the list in particular, are outstanding.

Carlton could probably make a good case that they should be ranked above Brisbane '02. Those Carlton sides were good to watch, even for an Essendon supporter.

Richmond annihilated Collingwood in the GF, I know, but Geelong were probably the best that year but self-destructed in the finals, and Carlton had an off year.

Theve been favourites about 2 or 3 times so I hear in those matches. It doesnt matter though, if you want big success, you have to perform on the day. Most GF Losses of any team @ 25. Keep it up Maggies. GF's dont come round too often.

They do for us. Collingwood has competed in nearly half of all GFs.

I've heard that every year between 1975 (?) and 1991 either Collingwood or Hawthorn was in the Grand Final but they've never met eachother in the granny, weird huh?

Yeah, I know, but close enough.

although brissy had a better year in '02, they plaed alot better in the 03 gf. Therefore played against a better team.
