Wrong there sorry. According to Wikipedia the first female or transgender to play AFL was in fact Alan Didak.

Gibbs is less girly than Thomas. Thomas is less girly than Turley, the O'Connell brothers and MacDougall.
Given the above, the Toasters can lay claim to having the first girl play V/AFL.
And that's saying something, Thomas is very girly.
